"Isis burns thousands of rare books & manuscripts from Mosul's libraries."

"Islamic State is selling looted Syrian art in London to fund its fight"

"What can't be looted or sold it is destroyed 'according to Sharia'"

...

The idea that one or two people could engage in such destruction is one thing, but I wouldn't have thought the number of vandals would be so large. End times philosophy perhaps?

That's depressing. It's like the Bamiyan Buudhas on a vastly larger scale. I sincerely hope they manage to sell them. At least they'll still exist.

I think you meant 'That much what you do...' Get your verb right when you're speaking Sharptoneese.

Relics of idolaters and their false gods? That which doesn't glorify God is naught but dust, and to dust it shall return. Turn your minds to the divine and leave earthly concerns to the worms that live within it.

If the past is more glorious, wouldn't you preserve it rather than destroy it?

I think these idiots feel the opposite way. These items remind them subconsciously that they were once one of the greatest civilizations on Earth. Now their culture is backwash a Holy shit hole of hate and self loathing redirecting their anger towards everyone but themselves. The world has moved forward and they look at a past where their heathen ancestors were in the front ranks of civilization with disdain. Their future is in the new caliphate.

Most definitely.

Unverified interior photo of destroying the grave of the Prophet Jonah.

It's getting to be a long list of Islamic State destruction, and is it all real or is some of it possibly fake propaganda that can't be confirmed?

No.

The distinction is -- Good Muslims and Evil Muslims.

Or if you prefer -- Good People and Evil People.

Only if you live in a black or white world.

Oh, never mind.

No "perhaps" about it. They deliberately doing outrageously provocative things that they hope will eventually bring the "Crusaders" (the U.S., Britain, and their allies) back into a land war, a prerequisite bit of stage setting before they take Syria and bring about the Coming of their Mahdi (their messiah) who will lead them to overcome the "Crusaders" and also accompany them to take the Dome of the Rock mosque in Jerusalem (which certainly implies an invasion of Israel as well).

Oh, never mind.

"Never mind"???

Diis was correct when he stated that ISIS follows a form of Wahabbi Sunni Salafism.

So, should we conclude by your cynical cop-out "Oh, never mind" response that you're indirectly suggesting that all Muslims are evil?

Not all vandals belong to one Muslim, religious, or non-religious grouping.

It's the same way all types of criminal activity.

Islamists are big on following rules being followed to the letter, so they'd do a better job than FFG.

Quick! Get FFG to translate the Koran into English and then back again into Arabic, and then flood Iraq and Syria with those "new edition" Korans. ISIS fighters would starve trying to make sense of the dietary rules. "It says here pork is haram, but on page 332 it says that all dough must be mixed with bacon fat before baking during the food production stage." They'll be at each other's throats in no time.

If any ISIS acrolytes took to destroying the pyramids, they'd probably be Egyptian locals and do it with explosives. However, in my opinion, Egypt is too far removed from Syria and it's the region around Syria that ISIS wants to draw us to fight them, not Egypt.
