There's a lot of information on this site, and I can't wait to dive in. However, I'm always looking for a good new game, and our group is roughly 7-10 people on a given weekend. Right now, we play Werewolf almost every weekend, and a little bit of Apples to Apples. Every now and then, we may throw in Pictionary or Taboo. I do have a bunch of other games like Scattergories, Scrabble, Monopoly, Balderdash, etc, but these get a mixed reaction. If it takes a lot of hard thinking, usually interest is varied and/or lost pretty quickly.

We've tried throwing in trivia games, but there is definitely a generation gap (From 16-28), so it's not that fun for most people. Others don't really want to embarrass themselves, so Charades type games (like Guesstures and Cranium) are fun for half, but the other half doesn't like them.

While poking around, I've found a few games that I think they may like:

Bang!
Why Did the Chicken?
Ticket To Ride (For when there are less people)

Does anyone have any other recommendations for games that don't take a lot of time, really emphasize the social aspect more than the "who wins" aspect (None of us usually care in the end anyway), and are pretty easy to explain?

Thanks for your recommendations!

You should give Saboteur a try. It supports 10 players, and is broadly similar to Bang, but no-one gets eliminated and has to sit out out.

Also look at Bohnanza, which is an excellent social trading game that supports 7 players.

Citadels is excellent and will take up to 8 (with the expansion character 'the queen'). With more than 4 or 5 players, it can run long, so it's worth calling game end after any player's city has 7 (rather than 8) districts.

Hi Keith, good luck on your search!

A few games that work well (in no particular order):

Bang! - up to 7
Shadows over Camelot - very social co-operative game for up to 7
RoboRally - an amusing programming game for up to 8
Saboteur - an amusing social game for up to 10
Democrazy - an amuisng law passing/voting game for up to 10
Wits and Wagers - a gambling/trivia/fun game for up to 21
Diamant (Incan Gold) - a push your luck game for up to 8
Citadels - a role selection/building game for up to 8 (with the expansion)
Gift Trap - a very social party game for up to 8
Bausack - a fun dexterity game for up to 8

Here is a link to Bruno Faidutti's website - this is a page from his Ideal Game Library showing his favourite games for more than 6 players:

http://www.faidutti.com/index.php?Module=listes&id=28

I also ran an advanced search here on BGG for games with a weight of 1 or 2, with a rating of 5 or higher that could play with 7 or more and that would play in under 1.5 hours.

here's a link to that search page:

Cheers and good luck!

Anytime I have 9 or more players show up to a game night, I always pull out Werewolf.

It's great fun, doesn't take long to play, and instantly gets people interacting with each other. The only downside is that players do get gradually eliminated, but this is not such a big issue since the game is over fairly quickly, and it's so much fun to just sit and watch.

Other fun titles that can accommodate large groups are:

- Who's The Ass? (12 players)
- 6 Nimmt! (10)
- Loot (8)

Have fun!

If you want a little bit of intellectual challange Cranium Hoopla is excellent. It has a only a small amount of charades and it's MUCH tougher than Cranium.

I did a review on it on the game page.
