I love this game, especially the theme, and I wanted even more. I went through the rulebook and compiled the names of each ingredient. I figured I'd post it here for other people who cared:

bird claw

scorpion (also "scorpion tail")

toad (also "warty toad")

mandrake root

raven's feather

mushroom (not sure if there's a more elaborate version of this)

fern

moonshade (officially "flower", but that's lame; see here http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1268381/whats-name-blue-flow...)

Also, if anyone has found backstories for the adventurers like in Dungeon Petz, I'd love to see those too!

I have always thought the word fungus seems more mystical then mushroom.

Even thou im not sure if fungus and mushroom is the same thing just other name.

Fungus may be a sub species to mushroom?

I agree that "mushroom" is definitely the odd one out here. "Fungus" is a possibility, but a little vague. I'm afraid "magic mushroom" makes me think of hallucinogens than alchemy, but maybe that's just me. I don't have a good solution.

Why for this life there's no man smart enough, life's too short for learning every trick and bluff.

The mushroom image might be modelled on this:

In any case, you can pick any specific name that takes your fancy as an alternative for "mushroom", as some of the other ingredients are pretty specific.

"Toadstool" is good. Might be confusing with "toad", though.

The green fern is actually a fiddlehead. It sounds more magical to call it that =)

We call them:
-Raven Claw
-Scorpions
-Toads
-Mandrakes
-Crow Feathers
-Toadstools, the miracle ingredient (seriously it's always triple positive)
-Ferns/Fadeleaf, the forgotten (no one seems to know what to call this)
-Moonflowers, The insanity inducing(This is always the first I publish, and I always think i'm wrong and try to debunk myself/but I end up always being right in the end)

As for the adventurers we have:
Assassin (Triple Negative)
Ranger (all positive except for R-)
Barbarian/Berserker (All + except B-)
Wizard (All positive)
the other 2 don't yet have names or stories.

For the mushroom we say death cap.
And the flower is night shade.

It is funny that others have gone with raven's claw and crow's feather, because I went with crow feet and raven's feather.

I knew I would find a thread about ingredient names on BGG, you guys never fail to amaze me :-)

It's disappointing to learn that the flower is just a flower... Personally I call it "Hellebore", because it's a flower which was widely used in curative potions, and it kind of looks like the game's flower (go and check the wikipedia page to see some samples).
