So armed with the new FAQ, our group played our fourth mission and when it came time to melee attack a door with reach, we had a disagreement on what rules applied.
Gaarkhan wanted to attack with reach two squares in front of the door, but there were imperial figures in both squares in the way. As such, gaarkhan satisfied the conditions of being adjacent to the adjacent squares stated in the new FAQ, but did not have LOS to the door. We played it that the FAQ overwrote the previous requirements which changed, and so we decided he did not need LOS to attack the door.
What do you guys think?
These are the relevant sections of the rules
The spaces that share an edge with a door are the only spaces that
are considered adjacent to that door. When declaring a P (melee)
attack targeting a door, the attacker must be in one of those
spaces. If the attacker has Reach, he must be in or adjacent to one
of those spaces.
A figure with this keyword may perform P (melee) attacks that
target figures up to 2 spaces away.
• The attacking figure must have line of sight to the target in
order to make this attack.
• An attack with Reach does not require Accuracy.

This is the key rule. The FAQ is assuming they have LOS in order to declare the attack on the door.

You still need line of sight for attack. The old rule did not care about figures on the two spaces that share an edge with the door, the spaces could be targeted regardless of the figures standing there. Now the figures on those spaces block the LoS. So, the FAQ made blocking doors easier, not harder.

I can see where the argument is coming from, and it would be valid in certain contexts of other games, but not Imperial Assault. The rule is just modifying valid positioning for Reach attacks. It is not modifying all the restrictions of Reach.
Thus, you must be adjacent to an empty space that shares an edge with the door in order to do a Reach attack to hit it.
