Folks,

So once the last player gets up close, the ram flips. But now all players are up close so up close cards destroy themselves, so the ram flips because an attached up close card was destroyed. So as near as we can tell he flips for as long as it takes you to discard your up close cards and so he effectively never flips and the only effect was to get the grappling hook into play and destroy fall back. Can someone please explain the timing of all that flipping and up close destruction, etc? It seems like he should stay flipped based on the text on the flanked side but the text on that side also seems to imply that he stays flipped for no in-game time. Thanks!

I think this would be better off in the Ram's thread rather than starting a new one, it'll be easier for other people to reference in the future.

Up Close doesn't destroy itself when the Ram flips, so I think you're just misreading something. If everyone is Up Close and another Up Close comes into play, the one that just entered play destroys itself, but that has nothing to do with the Ram flipping.

So the up close that destroys itself doesn't attach and that means that the ram doesn't flip immediately a second time due to that up close being destroyed (flanked ram says it flips when an attached up close is destroyed...).

He flips back when not all heroes are up close, so the extra one destroying itself doesn't flip him.

EDIT: also, there's no effect that immediately tries to put extra Up Close cards into play when he gets flipped to either side.

No wait. I see now. The first line seems like it takes effect when the last person goes up close, but it really takes effect if all characters were already up close. We thought the last hero going up close destroyed its up close card.

Correct you are. The wording follows the same format as Plague Rat's Infection cards.
