Hoist your sails and brush up on your Portu-Greek, because Flip the Table is about to take you to Waterworld! This board game, based on the 90's Kevin Costner spectacle of the same name, has players sailing their Trimarans around the endless sea of a post-apocalyptic future as they search for the mythic "Dryland"...all while escaping the infamous Smokers, who try to run them down aboard the Exxon Valdez. Can a board game based on one of the biggest box office bombs of all time somehow transcend its license and deliver a compelling experience? It won't cost you 40 quarters to find out...

And hey! Wanna win a prize? Just post a comment on this thread any time before 6:00 PM EST on Friday, March 13th, 2015, for your chance to win a SECRET PRIZE! One winner will be drawn at random! Good luck!

Judging by the nature of the "prizes" that have been offered by FTT before I'm thinking I should listen to the episode before commenting. Oh wait.... err.. um... this is awkward.

My favorite quote from the movie is from the old man in the hull of the Valdez when sees the fireball coming his way.

"Oh, thank God."

I saw Waterworld on opening night at the Mall of America. It was probably the largest screen in the Twin Cities at the time.

My buddy was the one who really wanted to go and thankfully we bought tickets ahead of time because the show was sold out. Sadly, we got there a little late and watched the movie from the very first row. It was brutal. I still feel a twinge in my neck whenever I think about it.

It wasn't as bad of a movie everyone made it out to be, that or I had very low expectations.

I was at the thrift store tonight and I thought to myself, would these games be made better with wrestlers?

Looking forward to listening. I saw Waterworld on opening night - part of some group activity or another. I remember my first problem was that there was no backstory at all explaining how any of this came to pass. That might have helped me at least get into the world a bit. Other than that it just seemed silly to me and I found it hard to swallow that nobody knew where to find some semblance of land and had to search for it. I might also have been subjected to sitting in row one, all the way to the left for this (that or Speed - another movie that just went a bit too far for me to put aside any knowledge of the laws of physics or common sense).

Maybe there's a reason I wait for the streaming/DVD/Blu-Ray release date to see movies now.

I actually didn't mind the movie. A tad too long, perhaps, but it's standard Kevin Costner fare, which isn't bad.

I saw waterworld in the theater and once or twice since. I didn't dislike it, which seems to be better review than many. It's far from the worst movie I've seen. The issue everyone gets hung up on is the budget vs the output. Thankfully I've spent far less than 250 million on it.
