Are the English rules available anywhere online? I'd like to read them in preparation for possible play at BGG CON (I hope someone brings this game).

I checked the Adlung-Spiele web site, but to no avail. cry

I'm sorry, Adlung don't want to publish the rules online.

And as the designer I cannot act against their wishes

Maybe someone else from the BGG Community will do it ...

As the English rules are in the game, BGG would have to remove any copy of those rules they did publish online if Adlung objected. Alternative might be a player aide or rules summary that doesn't quote the Adlung rules verbatum.

Anyone can post a complete description of how to play (in their own words) without violating any laws. That, or a private scan of the rules will yield some GG.

Why do you give up the rights to your game to the publisher? Is this a common thing? If I designed a game, any publisher not willing to allow rules online would not even be give a chance to publish it.

That's probably why Lukas Zach has designed a published game and most of us haven't.
