Hi everyone,

I am converting my roller hockey team into boardgamers since i take my games to the meeting before our house games (2 in 2 weeks) and we have about an hour together to play. Usually we are about 4 to 8 playing games on a 10 players team so i think isn't bad

Right now the favourites are:

Saboteur
Blokus
Bang: Dice Game
Formula D (printed a small track Rocky Shores to be able to complete a lap)
Pit
Tsuro
Looping Louie
~

Right now i am looking around for new games taking some points in count:
- cheap if possible (since i dont play games many times as i want to)
- easy to teach (some of my mates really dont like the explain part)
- play under an hour, better if half an hour
- language independent

I am looking for something with more meet but with a great fun factor.

Thanks!

I would recommend Unnamed Object. It's a fun game that works with 3 to 8 players.

Here are some options I would suggest for larger play groups that run about an hour unless.

Carcassonne with the Carcassonne: Expansion 1 – Inns & Cathedrals expansion for the sixth player.
Sushi Go! about 30 minutes (requires pencil and paper to score the results)
Shadows over Camelot Cooperative game to save Camelot with or without a hidden traitor or two.
Elder Sign Another dice rolling cooperative.
Citadels 2-8 player hidden role game to build your citadels.

I think King of Tokyo matches your requirements perfectly. Mega fun - easy to teach, quick to play.

Coup is great, but only goes up to 6 (like Sushi Go!). Mascarade is fun, and technically goes up to 13, but works better around the 6 player mark. I prefer both of these games to Citadels as they are (possibly subjectively) simpler and shorter to play, yet are more fun and have just as much strategy!

Hi,

Try Medieval Academy
Can't Stop
Keltis: Der Weg der Steine Mitbringspiel (or other from Keltis series)
Atlantis
Carcassonne
Zen Master
Cartagena
Las Vegas
Nuns on the Run
Smash Up

Some of them are up to 4 players only and I've not checked the price

A game you can create easily by yourself is:

Targets

What you need is basically a set of coasters and a couple (20 or so) of dice (5-10) per player.

Place the coasters in the center and flick the dice onto the coasters.
The player with the highest die on a coaster wins that coaster.
Watch out, though: other players can take your coasters away again!

(see the game's page for better rules )

Kind regards,
Kai

I also recommend The Resistance: Avalon which is an awesome game. Along the same lines, you should check out Masquerade which is a very fun game of deduction and secret identities.

I recommend Eight Minute Empire. It's a quick and simple strategy game that plays up to 5 and while it has the speed of a light game plays with aspects of a heavier type.

Well it seems i have some in my collection that could fit well and i haven't thought about them.

Ghost Blitz in fact we already played and was indeed a success

However i have yet to try these three Sushi Go, Cartagena, Incan Gold and One Night Ultimate Werewolf

Not sure if they will work well thinking about the guys which usually play but before another purchase i will certainly try these one's first.

Have some concerns about ONUW since i got the german version and never played it before so have some affrai d of ruin a good game with a poor explanation and bad runing as moderator, any tips? xD

Another one that was most suggest was Resistance: Avalon and in this case i will have to take into consideration since was previously suggested by a friend when i asked him for ideas xD (Looks like you have many supporters Muse23PT

Please feel free to send another suggestions since i will take a serious look into every one of them.

Thanks

+1 Carcassonne, Cartagena

I don't know what board game prices are like in Portugal but here are a few titles that are popular in our home, easy to teach, play under an hour, and are language independent.

Bohnanza
Archaeology: The Card Game
Survive: Escape from Atlantis! + Survive: Escape from Atlantis! 5-6 Player Mini Expansion increases to 6 players
Metropolys
Finca
Portobello Market
Ingenious
Escape: The Curse of the Temple
Hey, That's My Fish!

edits: added Survive: Escape from Atlantis! 5-6 Player Mini Expansion, Metropolys, Finca

Another recommendation for King of Tokyo.

Although only 4 players, others to consider are:
Forbidden Island
Forbidden Desert
Pandemic: The cure (this is the dice version which plays a little quicker than it's older brother)

Be careful about u leading too many games on them. Sometimes non-gamers like to play familiar games for a while before moving on to something else. They may feel overwhelmed if asked to learn a new game every week. Squeeze out as much life as you can from the titles you already have.

Indeed we have played about 5/6 times the longer (yet not too long) ones and about 10/15 times the small ones since every meeting we play for q bit more than an hour but till the end of the season I think we can continue play these ones and try another ones suggested that i already have on my collection but for next season i will mostly purchased 2/3 games and these way i can track them and catch some low price opportunities specially on amazon where i usually buy
