Yep it's finally happened!

These two games have got the go ahead and what's more, there's a whole string of other goodies there as well.

See here:

http://www.gmtgames.com/p500/gmtp50.asp

I, for one, have been waiting a long time to see Successors 111. Christmas has indeed come early!

Thanks for the heads-up! I've added my pre-order for Blackbeard. Now begins the 2nd stage of waiting that I lovingly refer to as "Nail-Biting Anxiousness".

Yep, and I note that Successors comes with a deluxe map as standard...which will be cardboard rather than paper.

What's also nice is that we have quite a few Naval Games added this time.

GMT have not done too many of these, but now we have 1805: Sea of Glory, PQ17 and Blackbeard (pirates too, I know).

He he!

Must be some sort of Dynasty, I guess.

(always makes me laugh that this word is pronounced die-nasty in the US, btw)

Wow, Blackbeard does look different than what I remember from The General.

The new Blackbeard is to have rules for solitaire play, so it sounds like a winner. Never played the original, but I've heard (from here at BGG)that the game only played well solo.
Now, maybe we'll get the best of both worlds, as GMT says the multiplayer rules are really worked over.

That's because it IS different . . .both visually and rules-wise. We think The New Beard will appeal to those who liked the original, thsoe who didn;t like it (because of factors that we have eliminated in the new version), and those who never played it before.

And we are seeking your commentary on the preliminary artwork, as requested in a separate Forum item rattling around here somewhere.

Because the Web site doesn't automatically update to reflect numbers. The folks at GMT do that every couple of weeks. Expect both of them to be well on their way when they do update.

I thought I had opened up a Forum file on the BLACKBEARD art . . . but it doesn't seem to have registered. I shall try again . . .

Richard, I checked the art on the GMT website, and it looks fine to me. If you've more examples, I'm always game for that.

BTW, I know I should know your avatar, but the name escapes me. One of the Borgias?

Famous painting (hanging in the Uffizi, i think) of Carlo de Medici, by Mantegna (or is it Magenta, I always confuse it) . . .an exact copy of which, in oils, i have hanging in my hosue.
