To me, the two-player game seems quite broken. The English rules for the new Princes & Pirates box says that in the phase 3 ("Plant traded and donated beans"), player draws two cards from the deck.

First - when are the cards drawn? Before or after the actitivies in phase 3?

Second - this seems to ruin the whole game. Players now draw 4 cards per turn, which in our game led to us ending the game with about 10 cards in our hands.

Also, the trade ships - is selling beans to the trade ship the only way to load beans on the ships?

The two-player game seems like an unplayable mess, especially compared to Al Cabohne, which works quite well.

Yes, the English bean duel rules in Pirates are not accurate at all.

I'm fairly certain the rules are the same as the regular bean duel with the addition of ships can sail during the Draw, Plant, Offer phase.

In summary,
Phase 1: Plant or Discard offered bean cards
Phase 2: Plant beans and may Discard one bean from hand
Phase 3: Draw, Ship, Raid, Plant, Offer
Phase 4: Draw 2 into hand
