Greetings fellow geeks! It's Monday! Another week in the books and as the weekend ends and as we toil at our assorted labors, we should recount our past week of gaming exploits.
So, all you gamers, bring your mini-session reports and stories of gaming greatness over the past week, as you pop in here to answer the question:
My group had their monthly game day on Saturday. So, along with my weekly game of Friday on Friday, I played:
But Wait, There's More x1 (my team won) 12 Realms x1 (we lost) Cribbage x2 (I won both) Eggs and Empires x1 (I came in third of five) Evolution x1 (I came in second of three) Red7 x3 (lost 2 2-player games, came in third of four in the other)
Just had our bi-weekly game night last night with four tables going! The favorites were "Terra Mystica", "Tzolk'in", "Ticket to Ride", "Wizard"(world's best trump game), "Dawn Under", "Vineta", "Yacht Race", "Powerboats", "Fast Flowing Forest Fellers", "Big Boggle", and "Wits & Wagers".
We finally got into the 1812 intro for 1812: Invasion of Canada game. My wife gave it to me last Christmas, but just haven't had a chance to play it because of other commitments. Anyway, we found the game plays smoothly, historically, but allows players a lot of freedom to lose the game themselves. I find it particularly interesting having lived in Upper Canada and and my old unit, The Lincoln and Welland Regiment served in a number of the battles there, of which I've visited many times. During that war my unit would have been the 2nd Lincoln Militia. They served as flank companies to the British Regulars and won laurels in a number of battles. When my opponent laid down the 'Turncoat' card and 2 of my Canadian Militia joined the U.S. Militia, I flatly told him, the turncoats were't LINCS. A fun game. We really enjoyed it and will get into the full campaign in April.
Golden... As in Oldie! I'm new to the Portland area and looking for gamers to game with and new gaming groups to join! I'm 50+ and like most games but do have a special affinity for dry, cube pushing euros!
Addendum! Last week we also learned a new game "Hogg Wild for Wealth" (newly released from www.topphogggames.com"), "Fearsome Floors", Settlers of Catan -Cities & Knights", and "Power Grid"

I thought we were going to get in a Cards Against Humanity or Sushi Go! at family pizza and game night, but I ended up sitting at the Blokus the whole time. Brother in law saw it played last week and was really excited to play, which is nice because he doesn't seem all that interested in games. He really liked Blokus.
In other news, we may have a game night coming up this Friday which would have a bigger game than the really quick stuff I've been playing lately (bigger is relative, I'm talking Ticket to Ride: Europe, Takenoko, Evolution). And! In a few weeks I might get to play Puerto Rico for the first time, my wife has a friend from her new mother's group that play board games. I'm excited.
Nothing. Family was in town. After dropping them off to the airport, I made a pit stop to a gaming group in session. Did say hi to some folks, but it was late enough that I decided to cut my losses and get a head start going home.
With only a couple hours left, I couldn't really do anything I really wanted to anyways. Timeline, Ticket To Ride, and many of those games I've already played before just don't excite me anymore. I really wanted to play Roll For The Galaxy again, and try out Pandemic: State Of Emergency, but I'd have to buy a copy of either, and I just can't deal with more games for the time being.
