Hi there

I'm looking for great board games which have ported well over to iOS.

Currently I have Agricola, Eclipse, Star Realms, Blood Bowl currently.

I'm looking at galaxy trucker and battlelore: command at the moment.

Any other gems people have discovered? I realise there's a forum thread about this but I'm interested in opinions

Some of my favorites:

7 Wonders (oldie but goodie)
Through the Ages (ditto)
Cut the Rope (based on Cut the Rope)
Temple Run (based on Temple Run: Danger Chase)
Infinity Blade (based on Infinity Dungeon: Peril without End)
and that timeless classic, Monopoly

Thanks Bryan

I can't see through the ages on iOS or 7 wonders??

I already have temple run and infinity blade also, I'm looking more for games which keep to their board game / card game roots however!

Also, monopoly is just not a good board game in my eyes

I have whittled down the iOS boardgames on my iPad to the following:

Tigris and Euphrates
Samurai
Pandemic
Eclipse
Agricola
Kingdom Builder - implementation isn't great but I love the game
6 Take!
Galaxy Trucker

I would add Ticket To Ride and Carcassonne to that list.

My favorites (besides Agricola) are:

-Le Havre (take a while to get used to, but you would probably like it if you like Agricola)
-Lords of Waterdeep (excellent implementation)
-Puerto Rico (kinda ugly inplementation, but a great game)
-Hacienda (had never heard of the physical game, but really enjoy the ios implementation)
-Stone Age (sadly not as pretty as the physical version, but still pretty fun)

Galaxy Trucker is an excellent implementation as well, I just personally don't care for the game. Same with Small World and San Juan.

I've played endless games of Carcassone and Stone Age with asynchronous play. Those two are the best games I've seen so far.

My other favorites are:
Galaxy trucker - I haven't played the iPhone version though
Pandemic
Catan
Bang! the card game
Forbidden Island

I would also note that Province is a fun microgame that works well on the iPad. And that the 7 Wonders Companion App is a great help to score the real game. And Repos Production is working on a full fledged 7 Wonders game app!

In addition to all the previous suggestions, Neuroshima Hex. It's awesome, and I need more online players to lose against.

Thanks.

Lords of waterdeep I have looked at actually. Is le havre hard to learn?

The reason I don't play Eclipse is because I find it very difficult to learn on the ipad.

Forgot to mention I have Tigris & Euphrates, Carcassone, and Puerto Rico also, as well as pandemic - Forgot about those!!

Have any of you played Battlelore: Command?

I think he means that you were being April Fools'd on 7 wonders and through the ages, though I do think at least one of those is in development.

And no, I don't think Waterdeep is hard to learn. I have Eclipse as well and agree that it's difficult to get into. I didn't find that to be the case with Waterdeep. It's pretty much straight worker-placement and the iconography on the board makes most spaces self-explanatory.

Might not be available in Britain store.

One that I WANT but isn't available in the US Store is Timeline.

But others that I play (minus Angry Birds etc):

+1 for Galaxy Trucker!!!
Quarriors!
Food Fight (or Penny Arcade)
+1 for Ticket to Ride with all the expansions

Finally - STAR REALMS

OH... and if you've got a few friends needing a laugh...

Spaceteam

Wicked fun and full of yelling and screaming (though, that doesn't help!)

Funzies.

+1 San Juan (easy to pick up and play)
+1 lords of Waterdeep

Both are really well executed ports.

-1 for La Harve if you are playing on phone, horrible port

Top Notch:

Elder Sign
Carcassonne
Neuroshima Hex
Lords of Waterdeep
Agricola (personally I dislike the game, but you can't deny the production values)
Pandemic

Second Tier (still excellent translations to iOS):

Ghost Stories
A Brief History of the World
Lost Cities
Battleline
San Juan
Puerto Rico
Samurai
Tigris and Euphrates

Apps that need an up-date:
Dominant Species (it's on the way!)
Caylus (The AI is currently very wonky. They are working on it apparently)

Personal Reservations:
Le Havre - it's great on an iPad, but don't bother on the iPhone. Way too much detail shoehorned onto a tiny screen.

There, that should get you started : )

Edit: I didn't buy Stone Age because there is an excellent version on Yucata.

To my knowledge Alien Frontires has been removed from the App Store.

Edit: of course, I meant Alien 'Frontiers', not Alien Front Tires...

Battlelore is great but ever since I bought the physical version, the iOS one doesn't hold a candle. Excellent implementation, though

I play a lot of ios boardgames....

The one that doesn't get much love that I still play loads and loads is Kingdom Builder.

Don't discount Carcassonne. It is great on iOS. Also Ticket to Ride.

Playdeks Lords of Waterdeep and Ascension have seen hours and hours and hours of play too.

Also San Juan.

Wow! I guess I can call myself lucky to be among the few who actually still have the game then! Remind me never to delete it!!!

Any word on why or if it will ever be back?

But back on topic:

+1 for Quarriors
+1 for Eclipse
+1 for Lords of Waterdeep
+1 for Star Realms

And just for shits & giggles why not Talisman? Not one of the better games out there but its a decent time killer ;P

I believe that games removed from the app store are still available to download if they've been purchased prior. You can get them from your "Owned" list.
