By looking in the rule book, multiple heroes are not sharing the fight with each others. Meaning each hero has to fight in one attack and still defend in other 2. Each one has 3 chance to get hurt each round.
eg. A attack in range, defend in melee, defend in magic
B defend in range, attack in melee, defend in magic
C attack in range, defend in melee, defend in magic

It is so different from the original Runebound in which Allies and Hero will share to fight the monster. Allies can help to fight in one attack and save your hero from being hurt.
eg. Hero attack in range, omit in melee, omit in magic
Ally 1 omit in range, fight in melee, omit in magic
Ally 2 omit in range, omit in melee, fight in magic
So, each one has only one chance to get hurt in each round. The omitted won't be hurt at all.

Am I getting it wrong? It seems the Midnight multiple fighting is not a cooperation combat at all. It multiply the chance to kill the heroes. It seems the sharing-fight in the original rule makes more sense.

You are correct.

If that's right, I think I'd better use the original rule.

It is same for using of Ally. I do not see any reason Midnight don't let the Allies join in.

Because there are no allies in the midnight market deck.

Let's put the basic + expansion's allies in then!
