November 19-25, 2006 is National Games Week! Mayfair encourages you to take some time and play a game a day during this year's National Games Week! We are especially excited about this year's National Games Week. More groups, educators and individual game players will be involved than ever before. That's no small thing, as last year 4,437 events occurred with nearly 119,000 people playing together and having fun.
National Games Week is an annual celebration of all forms of socially interactive games. It is a time for all of us to gather together and celebrate the enjoyment of playing board games together. National Games Week Games Days happen all over the country, all week. Some people holding events hold only one Games Day, while retailers and schools fully take advantage of the program, scheduling a whole week of Special Events.
National Games Week is also a time to introduce new people to the benefits of gaming. Try to play a game with some of your friends or new people that don't usually play. This way you can demonstrate to them the important benefits of gaming, such as the educational applications and constructive social interaction.
Mayfair suggests that it might be fun to make a plan for the week. Choose different types of games to play each night. Here is a fun list we came up with:
Seagoing Sunday (Entdecker, Nautilus, Amazonas)
Mystery Monday (Alibi or Leonardo, or Lupus)
Travel Tuesday (Train game)
Wine Wednesday (Weinhandler, Theophrastus)
Thursday (Lucca Citta, Express, Station Master, Sheer Panic, Settlers of Catan)
Finally Friday (a longer game... 2-4 player games... Or an EB series game or Silverton)
Silly Saturday (Elixir, Shear Panic, Elk Fest)
The staff of Mayfair Games wishes a wonderful Thanksgiving to all, and encourages you to play a game (or several) with family and friends!
