Hi... i'm going to be in those two cities briefly between the 26th and 30th of December, and was thinking maybe i could find some of those games that aren't in the USA yet.

anyone know of any excellent stores for boardgames in either of those two cities? preferably they should speak a little English, as my Italian is pretty much non-existent, except for the likeness to Spanish.

thanks!

Rome, Italy
They sell everything. Somehow they pack it all into that tiny store.

In the US you might rank it a 6, but for Italy, where they are used to small shops, it's probably a 9. They really have a ton of stuff. They had Sei, which was a special request from Bobby4th that I'd looked all over Italy for only to find it across the street from the last hotel on the tour, so I have to give it a 10. Plus the clerk was so sweet to me as I stumbled through asking for the game which was in a locked cabinet with the other card games. They really made my day, which until that moment wasn't panning out so well.

any other good ones in Rome -- looks like most of my trip is based out of Rome, so i'll have more time there.

the Strategy and Tactics store looks like it focuses a lot on wargames. i'm more interested in picking up some of those Essen games that haven't made it to the states yet. (at least, that's the picture i get when calling up a list of their games... but then again, i don't speak Italian, so i could be wrong

Citta del Sole is a chain that has shops around Italy (including Milan and Rome). Besides games, they have other fun stuff on sale.

http://www.cittadelsole.it/

At the website, use the 'our shops' link to find store locations. There are more than one in both Milan and Rome.

In Rome, I use to visit now and then the "Giocofollia" shop.
It has quite a selection (at least for my very small culture of board games) and it's not far from touristic trails.

In Milan the best place is "Giochi dei grandi" right in the Center beside Duomo Church. Here you can find a good selection of wargames and boardgames. Staff is very kind

Then near Piazza Cordusio (2 steps from Duomo) you can find "Città del Sole". A good selection of boardgames. www.cittadelsole.it

In Rome you can find a very good shop in a crossroad of via Nazionale Gioco follia (www.giocofollia.com) and in via Cavour "Strategia & Tattica" (above all if you like miniatures www.strategiaetattica.it)

I will be in Rome from 17 to 22 March, and I will be going to the Caravaggio exhibit at the Scuderie del Quirinale. If I have time, I will take a look, since its just a short distance away!
