It's fun, it's healthy, it's good exercise. The kids will just love it. And we put a little sand inside to make the experience more pleasant.

there are exactly three ways to properly eat a hot dog and one other that is acceptable under duress

1. the way god intended sausages to be eaten: sauerkraut, mustard and onion

2. Chicago Style

3. chili, onions and cheese

4. if you do not have the proper ingredients for the above 3, plain is acceptable but frowned upon

Satay sauce is peanut based, so using PB is not that weird.

I'd be willing to try that dog. Wouldn't be my first pick, I'll admit, but willing to try? Sure.

I also put ketchup on my hot dogs. So there.

You're every kind of wrong. Those are all fine combinations (though I'm not a big fan of chili dogs), but not, by far, the only ways to enjoy a hot dog.

I will accept that those are the only ways you would eat a hot dog.

Huh, I must be the only one (posting here, anyway) that has heard of a peanut butter, mayo, onion combination before. Never had it myself.

If the real issue is that it is on a hot dog, then, oh ok. But peanut butter and onion seems viable. Mayo is just whipped oil and eggs. Southeast Asian peanut sauce is basically the same. The Asian-style peanut sauce I make for noodles is a combination of peanut butter, sesame oil, fresh garlic and soy sauce.

My curiosity is getting the better of me...

No, I'm pretty sure the real issue is that it's peanut butter, mayo, and onion. Neither of the latter two should ever be used anywhere near peanut butter. And then when you put them on an innocent hot dog--dear god. Then just the thought of also adding kraut or slaw to the mix: sweet Jesus, I've just lost the will to live!

I'm meltinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg...

Yes, 1000% correct, but this list should be seen as a decision tree, where if 1 is not possible then 2 should be considered but is suboptimal, and so on to 3, and finally at 4 it's time to consider if it's really time to go home and go to bed.

My neighbor growing up was a fan of peanut butter on a hot dog. I always thought he was crazy, but then a buddy recently had me try peanut butter on a burger called The Piney Woods - Peanut Butter, Pickles, Pecan Smoked Bacon & White Cheddar Cheese. It sounded awful, but tasted great.

I'd at least give that dog a try now before discounting it.

Note: I prefer tomatoes to ketchup on my dogs for what it's worth.

As an official South Carolinian, I take offense that the entire state is getting blamed for this. It's pretty clear that it's just one pocket of the state that shoulders the burden of this creation.

I also take offense that I will eat anything. Anyone who knows me knows how picky of an eater I am.
