This game sounds like fun, but it would only get played in our house if it stays close to an hour. Also, is this a good husband vs wife game? Thanks.

Yes fairly close to an hour. Two player works, but I felt that the placing of your pirates on the ship for sleeping positions and using a fake player kind of anti-climactic.

If you are playing 4 or 5 players - and it seems to me that it is easily best with that number - then I do not think it can be played in one hour. There are a lot of little turns in the game so it would require a relentless pace to play it that fast. 90 minutes sounds more accurate to me.

60 minutes is accurate, with the lower numbers of players.

2 player works well.

It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage.

The town moving works well in two player - easily under an hour as well.
The boarding of ship and fighting for spaces is not a big deal compared to the 3+ version. It is still fun though. My wife enjoyed the two player, but 5 player had many more moments of hilarity. Dice rolling games usually turn me off, but this one kept me interested and I didn't feel like I was playing a war game. The dice added random to the game, nt a war. Small battles versus a campaign. Small skirmishes I don't mind, Large battles/strategies that never end, I don't care for. Light game, light tactics for this one.

In my experience, about 15 minutes per player.
