Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars, where you will be forced to drift aimlessly farther into the vast, empty abyss of space until a lack of food, water and oxygen causes you to succumb to Death's cold embrace.

Curry and Games also do the Verdo Lounge in Sutton Coldfield event now if that's worth adding. Dragoons Den is also every Friday, and a 2nd Sunday as well.

Also guys at RAF Cosford are starting an evening TONIGHT! and..... YOU CAN GO CLIMB ON THE PLANES!!!!! There's chat about it on the Telford group.

Dragoon's Den is in Moseley in Birmingham and is every Friday night from about 7pm until midnight and every 1st and 3rd Sunday from about 1pm to as late as people want to stay.

Also Spirit Games in Burton upon Trent do a board games night every Wednesday from 7pm until midnight and every 2nd Sunday from midday until people want to go home. The board game sessions at Spirit Games are free to attend.

How often do you meet up at Verso lounge? And do you have room for another one?

Monthly (third Monday of the month?). the next one is Monday 25th - https://www.facebook.com/events/362338270639558/.

Plenty of space, always room for more people. Although I am tempted to suggest that you bring a head torch with you; the lighting in there is, well, less than ideal.

I'm rarely able to make it; I might be able to this week, though.

Thanks Richards, yeah the head torch is usually a good idea. Verdo isn't far from my house and I have ventured there a few times, I suspect they would describe the lighting as atmospheric rather than insufficient, but I think I'd be more tempted to agree with you.

I've joined the facebook page - haven't got anything to add, sadly.

Shame that there's nothing in Sandwell... if I can overcome my social anxiety maybe I can start something up one day!

Out of curiousity: how do you define the Midlands? As everybody seems to have a different idea of what it (doesn't) consist of. Even after nearly 12 years of living in this country it hasn't become clear to me.

Easy. You're in the Midlands when:
1 - you're clearly not in Wales (i.e. you can't see lots of sheep & mountains, and the pubs don't contain surly locals);
2 - you're not "Darn Sarth" (because it takes you less than an hour to get to work each day, you don't go to art galleries and you think everyone working in "The City" is a tosser);
3 - you're not "Ooop North" (because you can think of at least two days last week when it didn't rain, and you know that life does not revolve around football clubs);
4 - you're not in Tractor Country (i.e. the east) - because you can't see the horizon and know what hills looks like.

Personally I think that places like Hereford (too close to Wales, too inbred) and Stoke (too close to Manchester; also horribly inbred) have a pretty tenuous claim to be in the Midlands, but it's such a great place to be I can understand why they would want to think that they are.

Leave Hereford and my Brother-cousins alone or I'll set my Father-uncle on you. At least our towns / cities / villages don't merge into each other, there is at least 10 miles and 10000 sheep between each major settlement*.

*Settlement term is used loosely.

Just because before I can start playing board games at a friends house (farm) yesterday I had to hand feed some sheep and herd some cattle.....

Ok so I do drink welsh water.

Apologies for jumping on to this thread but I would love to start a decent gaming group in the Evesham area (Midlands) and there's a small chance some like minded gamers will see this thread and think it's a good idea.

If anyone is interested contact me and we'll get it sorted.

Cheers.
