Since our new player Carl had a very good first experience on the Rust Belt map we ''decided'' he was ready for another try. The England map seemed appropriate with 6 players and the fact that the rules are very simple.
Set up was the following: Carl in the southwest, Martin in the southeast, Pierre and Adrien in the northeast, Nathalie and Mario in the northwest. Nathalie gave a break in the second round to Mario when she had a chance to block him eith the first build for the rest of the game in his area, instead she decided to build in the east towar Adrien and Pierre to jam this area. Mario had a very strong start and after 2 rounds he had 7 income while the other players were at 0, 1 or 2 income !
Beginning of the game was so tough that 3 players had to back up in this round. Turn 3 deserved a mention to Adrien who had to take 6 shares and since he was so rich he even bet after using his turn order for the loco action but the goods he was looking for weren,t there when he was to ship goods. From this time he had to struggle to survive and avoid bankruptcy. I suppose things were not as bad as they look because he continued to bet in the next round. Round 4 was critical for Mario since he had a split network and he needed the engineer action and no opposition from other players to link both parts but everything turned well and that was the turning point of the the game. From now, he shipped many goods to 4 or 5 income to and from Wales region. Carl had a nice finish when he was the only player to ship goods for 6 income. Mario might have been in reach of Carl but Mario finally won the last bet to take loco. and assured his frist place.
This game was as tough as our first on the rust belt map. Pierre and Martin tried a low share strategy but it didn't work. Martin loco was at 3 at the end , something we don't see often from players in our group.
Carl had another good performance for his second try. England map is always appreciated for the great challenge it gives us.
