Would the designers consider a music CD similar to Escape and/or Space Alert to track the "on" time and "off" time. Just prior to the two minutes, there could be some type of lead in letting the players know to get ready. Then comes the "on" music. Shortly before the down time, the music could hint of the end of the round. Then for say 2 minutes, there could be a lighter themed "rest" music. If players needed more time, they could pause the track. This system continues for 8 rounds. Maybe a couple different 8 round tracks for variety. I think it would add to the intensify and theme. Plus it would keep the players focused instead of worrying about turning the timer on and off. Just a thought.

These are things we have considered too but there are aliens and events in the game that alter the time length of a round 20" or even 2"/something. Also there is a rule for a die that fell off the table. The timer should stop until the die is recovered.
The most efficient way to handle the round was a timer.

i'm pretty sure there will be an app for that.

but yesterday, i already thought about mixing a soundtrack of "killing" songs cut to 2 minutes, alternating with calmer "alien phase"-songs.

something like that

I have no doubt that a 2 minute edit of the following music, would be the most appropriate choice for this game.

thanks for making my day .

this reminds me of my first steps in video editing, i took the cursed tape from the movie The Ring and combined it with music similar to this sax tune.
hilarious, suddenly you have a cursed comedy tape!

Richard, you should re-assess your output. I prefer this format to the vanilla static cam.

Edited my response to a new thread (Project Elite Timer App?) as it deals with using an app for handling the music instead of a CD as suggested in this thread.

Good news!
Good news everyone!

I made a simple countdown soundtrack! You can find it at:
https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/137127

If you have suggestions, post them at:
https://boardgamegeek.com/article/23711419

I agree that the UT soundtrack is pretty awesome, and I may have already made a version with that music in the background...but it will never show up on BGG files due to copyright issues...
