(Note: I'm not actually part of the CanGames organizing committee in any way, but it doesn't look like they are going to post an announcement thread here so I may as well help out and advertise a bit. If I get anything wrong, don't blame the event organizers! Here goes...)
CanGames is Ottawa's longest-running games convention - it started way back in 1977! Almost 40 years later, the event is still focused upon the community, the attendees and the games themselves. The vast majority of convention space is dedicated solely to scheduled and unscheduled board games, RPGs and miniature games. Most of the vendors present are from the Ottawa area, and there is also a second-hand games market.
Some of this year's features include:
--local favourite Chariots
--KBG's "I Hate Catan Tournament" returning for another year
--an RPG design seminar
--an Eclipse multi-round tournament
--Mobile Frame Zero introductory sessions
--a demonstration-play session of the Batman Miniature Game
--demonstration-play sessions of Three Kingdoms Redux
--a drop-in Mafia/Werewolf room all Sunday afternoon and evening
--a miniature painting competition
...plus a plethora of other scheduled games, open-gaming space and all the Pathfinder you can eat.
If you want to be absolutely sure of reserving a spot in a particular event, you can register in advance, but you can also just show up at the door and drop into open game spots (in my previous experience, very few games are entirely reserved in advance, but some fill up very quickly once doors open in the morning).
Here's the fine details:
Dates: May 15-17 2015

Kudos for posting!
The Kanata Board Gamers plus the Ottawa Games Group are staffing the open gaming area at CanGames. So you can come learn a game between tourneys.
The hours are: Friday 8pm to 10pm and Saturday/Sunday: 8am to 9pm (with breaks at 11 and 6 for lunch & dinner).
I will be selecting about 30 main games (plus a bunch of little ones) from the Kanataboardgamers and my collections to bring. Volunteers will be bringing some too. But feel free to post something not in our collections here -- if you want to see it maybe I can get it?
For laughs & giggles, here is what was brought last year:
Age of Industry
Alea Iacta Est
At the Gates of Loyang
De Vulgari Eloquentia
Glory to Rome
Hey, That's My Fish!
King of Tokyo
Lords of Scotland
Race for the Galaxy
Skull & Roses
The Castles of Burgundy
Thurn and Taxis
Tigris & Euphrates
Upon a Salty Ocean
Vasco Da Gama
