Eric reminded me over the weekend that this info should be posted on the Police Precinct page on BGG.

Sssssoooooo...

Here's the scoop:

We (Common Man Games) want to be the first game company to ever offer a Brazil Friendly campaign.

Now, having said that, has anyone ever done that?

We don't think so, but we invite you to prove us wrong.

If you are aware of a Kickstarter that offered Brazil Friendly treatment during the campaign and actually delivered on that promise then please post in this thread a link to that campaign.

We got interested in doing this recently because we see the problem (all publishers know about it) and wanted to work on helping Brazilians find a better solution.

The problem is not JUST how expensive it is to ship a game to Brazil, but also (and even more so) how expensive the taxes are when the recipient gets their game. It has been depicted to us to be 60% of the game cost INCLUDING the shipping (meaning that they are charging tax on the shipping too)! PLUS 18% (for certain states in Brazil) tacked on top of that. Some gamers on BGG report paying $150 in taxes alone for a Kickstarter... Ouch!

After deciding that this was something we wanted to get involved in, we began a discussion on BGG that talks about this. That thread is over on the Brazilian forums. From that discussion we learned a lot!

Here's a link...

https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1361959/brazil-friendly-kic...

Please join in on the chat.

This is something we want to see happen on our next Kickstarter campaign which should be starting soon.

Stay tuned and please feel free to spread the word to any of your Brazilian gaming friends (many of us have come to know some great ones through BGG), and...

Thanks!

(in order to help our Brazilian friends they need to be aware of this)

This thread you are reading now is meant to alert Police Precinct fans to this exciting news and to allow a forum for discussing how this might impact the the next Kickstarter and the overall growth of the game and where we're hoping to take it over the next few years.

We think more than just Brazilians can benefit from this.

What do you think?

THE TIME-TABLE:

Just for the record, here is the projected time-table for a successful Brazil Friendly fulfillment (below). What you see is a semi "worst-case-scenario" kind of time table (of course things COULD go much worse than this, but it's not likely). Then below each item we are listing when these things actually happened in relation to the current experiment. By the way, if you desire to learn more about our "current Experiment (or as we sometime refer to it... "The Micro-Experiment"), then go here...
https://boardgamegeek.com/article/19080530#19080530
(see section entitled "The Experiment", which is located under "The Latest Scoop" section)

DAY 1 -- DEPART DENVER: Bulk shipment departs CMG warehouse.
Actual: May 27th 2015

DAY 9 -- ARRIVE MA-BASED FORWARDER: Bulk shipment arrives at the USA based forwarder for the Brazilian Fulfillment company.
Actual: June 2nd 2015

DAY 17 -- DEPART MA-BASED FORWARDER: Bulk shipments headed from the forwarder do not leave daily (they are grouped), and they take tedious preparation (the two main reasons for the time spent with the forwarder).
Actual: June 9th 2015

DAY 20 -- ARRIVE IN BRAZIL: Shipment goes via air.
Actual: June 11th 2015 (approx)

DAY 55 -- ARRIVE AT THE BRAZILIAN FULFILLMENT CENTER: Yes, it can take up to 5 weeks to clear Brazilian customs (it is what it is). Speaking optimistically, it can also happen in less than two weeks from the time that the shipment arrived in Brazil, so cross your fingers and hope for the best!
Anticipated: July 14th 2015
Actual: July 1st 2015
Ahead vs behind: Ahead by 13 days at this point.

DAY 70 -- ARRIVE AT THE BACKER'S HOME: This aspect depends a bit on how many shipments are going out (and many other things).
Anticipated: July 30th 2015
Actual: July 14 2015
Ahead vs behind: Ahead by 17 days by the very end.

TRANSLATORS & MORE:

We are juggling different ideas for who (and how) should be our publishing partner for the Portuguese version of the game.

So, not to get too into that right now, BUT...

Yes, we do want to make a call-out to anyone and everyone who is interested in volunteering to help with this project.

Translators, editors, proof readers, etc.

We would like to recognize one person as being...

The Leader of all such volunteers, and his name is:

Hugo Machado

His BGG user name is:

Hugo Santos
Brazil

His email address is:

hugomacsan@gmail.com

Please get in touch with him if you want to help. He will coordinate everything among the volunteers. He will also work with us and our print partner (who will likely be a Brazilian company).

CURRENT GOAL: We are "lining up the troops" so-to-speak. This is our only goal right now. The plan is to THEN (later) begin work on actually bringing The Portuguese version of Police Precinct into being, and to do this in conjunction with our print partner.

And...

Thank you in advance to anyone and everyone who volunteers to assist in this process!

Or as I prefer to say...

Obrigado!
