Seeing as though Mel just posted a gorgeous Bulk Freighter model on shapeways, I put together some cards and bases for it using RogueKnight's templates, including a (barely) armed version:

Nice. Realistic stats for it.

This is cool. What do you feel the intent would be in adding this to one's army? I've seen a few of your posts about Mel's shapeways models and RogueKnight's templates. Is there somewhere else where a greater conversation is going on about the fan content you're creating?

Editisregard the second part. I found both threads in question. I forgot to look far enough back into older but still active threads.

At the moment, to be entirely honest, I can't think of a good use for them in regular play. Maybe as cheap initiative soaks that can also activate some extra squadrons. Or (*shudder*) as disposable rammers, though their lack of speed and maneuverability makes that a doubtful proposition.

They're really meant for scenario play - convoy escort and the likes.

Well, they can carry officer and stuff to help boost the rest of the fleet. Also they can block/ram other ships. They also can activate some sqadrons. And the armed version can shoot at squadrons too. For a ship that cheap, I would get 3-4 for support and anti-squadron purpose.

Deadman's switch for Armada capital ships would be awesome. We have had fireships for Star Wars in the past, like when the Ram's head took out some Star Destroyers.

If I remember correctly, there were some obscure places which mentioned the Rebels using Gallofree transports as fireships during the battle at Endor.

Mario, just a suggestion, make one thread and post all your cards there. Makes them easier to find. Great work though. Love them. I need to post the cards I have made.

Again, glad someone is getting use from those templates I made, lol.

Great work, however I think the stats are far too good. 5 Hull Points is a lot, and I dont see why it should have any squadron point at all. Three defense token are also a lot for a civilian freighter.

I would think that there would be a lot commerce raiding going on. Each side raiding the merchant ships they think are supplying or supporting the other side. Attacks against convoys would make very interesting scenarios. These cards are great and would serve for almost any medium-sized merchant ship.
