Egg Harbor Township
I am hosting a game tonight and want to be as much of an expert as possible. After reading over the rules I have some questions I would like clarification for from people that have made it through the zombie apocalypse thus far (that's you)!
Spawning in Buildings
"Opening a building for the first time reveals all Zombies inside all rooms of the building."
A check is performed each time a door is opened. Once a door is opened we should draw an imaginary line from the newly opened door to every "open" room. Where "open" is defined as not being behind a door or other impassable barrier. And then for each "open" room we draw a spawn card.
Is this correct?
Event Trigger Token
"A tile displaying an even trigger only spawns Zombies the first time a survivor stands in one of its building or indoor alley zones at the end of an action."
An event trigger token either exist on a game tile or it does not. It does not matter where the token is placed on the tile; that is, it does not matter which room, alleyway, street zone or otherwise, it is depicted on the mission setup. It simply exists for the whole tile.
When performing the actions described in , do not draw a spawn card for zones on a game tile if, anywhere on that game tile, an event trigger token exists. Unless a player is standing on that game tile, in which case proceed spawning as per normal.
As an additional rule, all rooms in any building on a game tile, that has an event trigger anywhere on the tile, spawn zombies regardless of whether those rooms are behind an impassable game element (ie. a door) or not.
That last part is where I am a little unsure.
I do not understand the blue and red lines drawn on tiles with alleys. I understand and see the red shading which depicts zone movement. But why do the lines exist? Why are some blue and some red? I see no detailed explanation of this in the rule book.
I am not sure how I am supposed to handle my group of 7 players tonight. Do we just each grab 1 character and play as 1 big team of 7? I would prefer not to play with teams if that is possible. But not a huge deal if I have to. Sadly, I think with 7 players, it sounds like 2 people will have to play 2 characters, to bring our total to 9, so we can play 3 teams of 3. But if there is an option to avoid this, I would like to.
And I am not sure how the game scales; don't we just spawn zombies after ALL players have gone? Isn't the game going to be really easy if we have 9?
Thanks so much!
Any other generally misplayed rules or differences from Season 1 are also welcome!

Mage Wars: Beastmaster's Pet
I am also hosting a game tonight (The first tutorial) and I would also like to know the answer to Justin's second question, especially as the actor who enters the first event tile (2V) will enter through a room, not a corridor.
But the other questions:
Spawning in buildings - you have it right.
Alleyways: I think it's just artwork, and does not affect the game in terms of rules.
7 players: Don't bother with teams, just play 7 people with one survivor each. If they are new to the game, play the scenario you have chosen as it is, and don't adjust the number of dice you roll for spawning. If you find that makes the game too easy, next time you play you can make adjustments.
The blue and red lines exist in some (most?) hospital. They indicate directions to specific parts of the building.
They are necessary when people need to get to some place fast. They just follow the line.
I'd like to know the answer to the second question as well.
My inclination is, no. I say this BECAUSE they didn't say anything about doors in this way. This means, to me, that doors still act in a normal way. In fact, there is an example in the game book on page 33 (though it may be only referring to spawning when "cathy" opens the door in the example. Nevertheless, the wording is interesting: "The door prevents ANY spawn until opened."
All of that being said, I think doors still work as doors. The event would trigger every open room on that tile.
...are better than one.
My understanding of the second question is that once a survivor passes onto a tile with an event trigger...then all room "zones" would spawn a zombie regardless of a blocked room (door or otherwise). Then when you open that door to a closed off room...you would spawn an additional zombie.
I also wondered about event spawning. It seemed to me they spawn when someone entered the tile with an event marker, and that was it... We didn't spawn when opening a door too. We just played by what was already spawned.
We havent been back to S3 yet tho, wife found it the most boring so far (though only played once), but she has never truly loved the series. Daughter and I like it enough, but it has gotten cumbersome. I am only missing Prison, and it feels like too much now. I can't decide what to keep and what to sell though.
