The Train Pledge

We, The Train Addicts, of Malaysia will pledge to play with little miniature trains (Especially Marklin sets)and any boardgames dealing with trains for as long as we live.

Will do anything in our power to uphold the Gospel truth and nothing but the truth about trains.

Be it Steam Trains, Electric Trains, Diesel Trains or even Nuclear Powered Trains.

Will talk non-stop about Trains and have Trains occupying our thoughts and minds 24-7.

To love and learn about trains.

In sickness and in health till a train derailment do us part.

I pledge with all my heart and soul, to eat only food served on Trains.

So help us, God.

Dude, that's easy. He's the guy who designed several free print and play modules for 18XX (namely 18GA & 18AL). I prefer 18GA as it is more balanced than 18AL. But I like 1889 the best as it can be played very competitively with 3 players (small map etc.).

Btw, I'm getting 18GL & 18FL to add to my collection.

aanemesis - Hey, r u willing to sell me ur copy of Age of Steam?

I keep hearing about this 18GA but have yet to play it. Does it really exist? laugh
I've taken one week off next week [final week of 2006]. Aside from some errands, I'm pretty much free for gaming. So how? When's the next session?

Ok. But I'll be working the whole week. So most probably at night only.

Since I won't be working the next day, a 4-hour game [excluding the 1 hour rules explanation] on a week-night is now manageable. If you can find other suckers oops kaki's to play, I'm in!

If I can get my stuff done up by Wed, then I'm on for Thu or Fri. But beside 18GA, I oso wanna play North Carolina again!! We didn't actually complete the game last week, and I'm interested to see how this map plays out.

Maybe instead of cutting each other up, this map is meant for cooperative play?? hahaha....

Hehe.. But with me and Jack208 playing, it would more be like a 2 hour game. Plus, with Jack208 explaining the rules, it would only take half the time to explain it. So Jack208, do you volunteer for this noble job?

Hmm.... I see 'Hot, and Sunny days ahead...' (Read: Hot Sun) hehe

Hey guys, any of the 18XX games online? Like VASSAL or something? I'd be up for playing....

I grew up on Avalon Hill but SOMEHOW seemed to miss the 18xx (thinking 1830 right now) craze. I played it about 2 months ago and LOVED it. Just ordered 18MX (Mexico, Deep Thought Games) because I heard it was good and playable in an evening. Any others I should get? I did get 1861 from Z-Man games recently.

I do love "train" games.

I like 1889. This is great for 3-4 players as well as beginners. Get this from Deep Thought if you can.

I, too, received my 1861 recently, but I haven't tried it out yet. This is probably the most atmospheric of all the 18XX series. Probably ,my fav in terms of theme.

Yes-I like Indonesia. It's very much like 18XX but without the track building. Played it after Essen '05. I'd love to bring this to the table again, but first I need to play 1889. It's really that good.

Hmm... I see aanemesis is now hooked on the 18XX series after our game of 18GA last weekend... hehe...

Or we can play 1870 instead... I can bring 1870 and we can meet at either Toybox or Wolf's Shop... Or we can play 1889. I don't mind playing it again. A small but tight map.

Hey, instead of 1889, we can play 1870 instead... I can bring my set of 1870 and we can meet at either Toybox or Wolf's Shop... Or we can just play 1889. I don't mind playing it again. It's a small but tight map tho.

Thanks guys for a fantastic session of 18GA. There were five of us : aanemesis, jack208, friedricetheman, Long & Chen. We started at around 8pm and ended 3 hours later. In the end, Chen got burned by jack208 in the FTP round and declared bankrupt as he couldn't afford the '8' train. *ouch*

Final score - friedricetheman (1060), Jack208 (700++), aanemesis (500++), Long (550), Chen (<400)...

Shall we ask Chen & Henry for another round of 18xx hehhe....

Champion Eternal, you in for the next round of 'Operation: Hot Sun'??
