_____BGG.CON_____ BGG@SEA BGG.Spring
This email was just sent out to all BGG♥FAM registrations.
Please read this ENTIRE email. Since this is a brand new event, even if you’re a BGG.CON veteran, there’s something new here for you too!
If you've passed your registration on to someone else, please forward this message on to them. And if you have registered multiple badges, please make sure each of your attendees gets this information.
First off, the MOST IMPORTANT THING. Just like at BGG.CON each attendee is required to bring a printed copy of the confirmation email showing their badge information listed. To be clear, that’s one printed copy for each badge-holder, not just one per registration. So that means you need to forward your confirmation email to each person whose badge is listed on your registration.
You can view your badges here:
Your password: ********
There you can also get a new copy of your email confirmation by clicking the button labeled “Resend Verification Email”. Please print enough copies for each of your badges, or forward that email to the individual badge-holders and instruct them to print it out for themselves.
During registration you will turn this piece of paper in as your ticket into the convention and then receive your badge and wristband.
We will assist you in securing your wristband and it must remain there for the duration of the convention. Please keep your badge visible at all times. Your badge *and* wristband together are required for all services at BGG.FAM, including the Game Library, Exhibit Hall, and complimentary shuttle tickets for the Grapevine Shuttle (available at the check-in desk), sponsored by Rio Grande Games!
Don’t forget to show your wristband at the hotel’s many fine dining options for a 10% discount (not valid at the Cash&Carry Cafeteria in the Made In Texas Hall where the food is already discounted, also not valid for alcohol). Your badge is also your library card in the form of a printed barcode.
Replacement wristbands may be purchased at the check-in desk if you need to remove yours (sleep, work, etc.). This requires turning in the old wristband, showing a picture id with information that matches your badge, and paying the fee of $5.
Along with your badge you will find a door-prize ticket. At any time you can turn in half of that ticket to collect your initial door prizes at the check-in desk. Keep the other half of that ticket for our grand finale prize giveaway on Sunday night at 7pm in the Enterprise Ballroom. You must be present to win.
Also included with your badge is a GeekBuzz login card. Use this card at the GeekBuzz stations in the Enterprise Foyer to “Like” the games you’ve been playing. We’ll compile the results to build a “Hot List” of the convention. Check out the constantly updating Leaderboard on the big screen there.
Ultimate Geek Sponsors
We’re very grateful to Stronghold Games for their ultimate support of BGG.FAM!
The 2015 BGG.FAM schedule and maps have been posted here:
We want to especially highlight these exciting events:
- Tom Felber will be back with additional members of the Spiel des Jahres Committee to show and teach all of the 2015 nominees for all three prizes: Kinderspiel des Jahres, Spiel des Jahres, and Kennerspiel des Jahres. Find them in the exhibit area of the ballroom (Enterprise 7-8).
- North Star Games will be hosting events for both Wits & Wagers and Say Anything, Saturday and Sunday night respectively.
Sign-up sheets for all space-limited events will be available 24 hours before the event begins near the check-in desk.
This convention would just not be possible without the great effort of our wonderful volunteers. Be sure to thank Team Geek in the gold and grey jerseys for all they do to help make this show run so smoothly. If you are so inclined, we’d love your help by spending an hour or two in our library. It’s a great way to meet new people and see what’s hot this year.
To sign up for a shift in the library, or to learn more about what it entails (it’s really easy, no worries), go here:
This text comes directly from the airport:
“Upon entering the airport gates, you will want to enter through the TICKET ONLY lanes located at both the north and south entrance. You will receive a ticket time stamping your entrance onto airport grounds. The hotel will validate all parking tickets at the front desk or bell stand. For the attendees with toll tags, you will want to disable your Toll Tag temporarily for use prior to entering DFW facilities. You can do this via NTTA’s website and/or via the use of the mobile app NTTA.”
As it applies to BGG.FAM, be sure to get your ticket validated as you leave the convention rather than as you arrive because the validation process differs based on the amount of time you’ve been on site. Be very clear with the concierge or the front desk how long you’ve been parked so that they use the correct validation process.
As a reminder, parental supervision is required for all children under twelve years of age. At no time will BoardGameGeek or Team Geek take responsibility for your children - there is no babysitting service provided. We feel comfortable allowing kids 12 and up to roam around the convention areas, as long as you're comfortable with it as well. We trust that you as their parents are the best qualified to make that decision.
We’ve set aside the Industry Wing as an "under 12" area for dad or mom or another trusted adult to bring the kids over for fun activities for the young ones - a toy and crafts room, a room stocked with LEGO and Heroscape, and a mother's lounge. Team Geek will be in the hall entry to make sure no kids pass in or out unaccompanied but will otherwise not be providing any child supervision.
The main Enterprise ballroom is divided into two open gaming areas: one where the whole family is welcome and another area for only teens and adults. Even in the family room we asked that your kids be supervised and not running around in a disruptive manner.
One final note - we’ve seen reports of an increasing number of incidents of harassment at various geek-related events and conventions the past few years. We just want you to know we will not tolerate any such behavior at BGG.FAM and we reserve the right to eject anyone from the convention without refund. I can’t imagine anything like that happening at our convention, but we want to be clear and proactive.
All that being said, we're looking forward to having a great convention and seeing everyone! If you have additional questions, please check out the wiki:
See you soon!
