They seem to be ill-prepared for the traffic they're getting. It's getting rather lame not to be able to even purchase something you actually want.

Yeah, they're getting some serious traffic problems.

By the time I signed into my account I missed the Cleopatra deal (sold out in 5 or 6 minutes?!) That sucks because a couple in my gaming group mentioned how cool this game looked; I would have had the perfect Xmas present for them.

Has word of Tanga gotten out tto the wide world of the Internet and that is generating extra loads of traffic?

It seems hard to believe that just our little niche of geekdom is enough to bring their servers to their virtual knees.

It's back up! Hurry for your chance to buy a 4-in-1 Detector Voltage/Metal/Wood and Moisture. What's the BGG rating on that?

Maybe they just put that detector up to ease the traffic for a while. Then again, it could come in handy, especially if you're working with some wet, metallic-wood hybrid material that might, or might not, be electrified.

I don't think it is helping with the site traffic.

I just got 2 "Connection timeout" messages trying to connect to Tanga again.

That is honestly the funniest thing that I have heard today!

Tanga: the wet, metallic-wood, electrification detection headquarters

It seems hard to believe that just our little niche of geekdom is enough to bring their servers to their virtual knees.

I'm thinking it is us...

They obviously haven't built a site that scales to the traffic they get - and it seems to be the games that are doing it. I am guessing they planned for an object to be up for 20-120 minutes with 30-40 concurrent people. Just guessing...

But we bring down BGG all the time and Aldie is actually prepared for us, so if even a fraction of BGGers all visit Tanga then I'm sure it'll have server issues. I bet we give those smalltown newspapers problems when users post links to their articles about Blokus or Apples to Apples, heh.

I just don't understand it -- I'm reloading the page forty or fifty times a minute, you'd figure one of them would get through . . .

The site pings, so the server is up. It may be the sysops that have crashed.

Well, they DO seem to be running it on a county-auction 386 with a 14.4 modem...

Ai, ai, ai! And I'd solved all but the last one. Still have to submit two solutions I figured out while waiting for the server.

It was fun while it lasted
