A couple of questions came up about sell sheets in the May 14th 2015 meeting. I thought it might be useful to pull together a list of helpful links on the subject and post some examples of what sell sheets can look like.

Here is a link to an article the Bamboozle Brothers (Jay Cormier & Sen-Foong Lim) wrote: https://inspirationtopublication.wordpress.com/2010/10/03/st...

Here are a couple of articles from the League of Gamemakers site:
http://www.leagueofgamemakers.com/how-to-build-a-sell-sheet-...
http://www.leagueofgamemakers.com/giant-walls-of-text-other-...
Here's part two of the above article

The first Sell Sheet I created for my Game Errands. It isn't an ideal example, but I patterned it off of the advice from a couple of the articles above.

Here is another version of a sell sheet for the same game. This one was put together by Adam Skelding:

Please post any other helpful links you guys might know of and examples of different styles of sell sheets not covered in the above links.

I hope you find this useful.

I have a sell sheet. Dunno if it's helpful. It's also missing the 'how to win' condition XD https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0B-af2tsUvt_bflJY...

I want to know more about putting text on top of colored backgrounds and arranging the text all of the page. It doesn't look like Microsoft Word. What software do people use?

I will not say that these are the best options, but here are the two tools that I have used:

Inkscape--Free vector drawing app. I've learned its ways and I'm comfortable using it. Plus one of the output formats is PDF.

InDesign--This is one of Adobe's subscription based apps. It is a publication layout tool, so if you learn its features it will do more than you will probably need. I started using it to create decks of cards quickly with the data merge tool. I used it earlier this year to create my table sheet for Unpub5. Not a good option, though, if you are hyper-budget conscious.

But there have to be some desktop publishing apps out there that will do what you want. I haven't looked into them so I don't have one to recommend off the top of my head.

Here's a link to my table sheet. If I were doing this again, I would fix the wall of text issue.

Yeah, I saw that. Some of them are very busy... as in, way too much text.

Powerpoint works well for this actually. Just change the slide size to a full page.
