You know why I am surprisedwow? there have been no new picture updates! No one has taken any pictures of the game to wave it under the noses of the American players! Perhaps it is because everyone is too busy PLAYING the gamegoogoo... Or mabey those who have the game are too nice to gloat... Well as someone who is still waiting for his copy of the game... I FULLY ENCOURAGE you to GLOATsurprise! because I want to see more pictures!thumbsup

Sigh. Sorry, I have been busy, and I had assumed lots of pictures would have been uploaded. What would you like. Let me know, and I can do it. I have BL, the HG, and the EE.
Sterling

Edit: There are a ton of pictures there. What are you looking for?

Its amazing what they fitted in the box! The package was feeling quite heavy when it arrived. I enjoyed that

Thanks for the welcome! Been a long time reader of the Geek, but Battlelore made me decide it was time to get in on the action here

I have just bought mine....

My precious.......another outstanding piece of packaging and quality material from Days of Wonder.

They have become the Electronic Arts of the Board Game world.

Style backed up with substance....

It is a shame that not many people outside our fraternity know much about them... They would certainly sell more!

Don't say that to any NBA Live fans. They are trying to slit EA's throat

But from what I've seen, this looks really, really good. I am about to break down.....knees....weakening.....

I would love to post something, but every time I look at my delivery status it seems to be sitting in General Status Sorting for 2 days at each location. Germany, London and next it will be Glasgow.

I hope they are all sorting the figs for me so they are all standing upright!

For every NBA Live there are two Need for Speeds!

Days of Wonders European Customer Service Dept is pretty good too....And no I am not being paid by them....

Battlelore will no doubt enjoy many expansions from Mr Borg. Prepare to be assimilated!!

There was a time... back when personal computers had names like Atari and Commodore that Electronic Arts (EA) was the coolest software company around. Great games and very cool, interesting and innovative packaging.

Of course this was back before Trip Hawkins sold out and the suits and CPAs took over...

Hey

I dont work for EA but the entertainment software industry would not be where it is then and now if it was not for EA.

EA has just grown up now and is the largest player in what has become a large, professional and successful business.

Of course we all hanker after Mule and Pinball construction set but that was then.

EA has set the benchmark for professionalism, packaging, high production value yada yada.

Of course they make some stiffs as well BUT without the modern EA there would be no succesful THQ, UbiSoft and the like...

Comparing Days of Wonder to EA is just meant as a compliment to DOW.

Our hobby has a Company that makes excellent games, deals with customers politely and produces products that we all lust after.

Just read all the forums and threads on Battelore.

I am just going to have my first game now.

Yes, EA has truly pioneered the art of destroying employee lives and churning out sequels to meet shareholder predictions. Packaging and high production value, sure. But professionalism? They treat their employees like naughty children, but then don't give them cookies when they behave. Hasbro can be EA. Or maybe Parker Brothers. DoW is more Sierra, and FFG gets to be Blizzard.

Call the FAA, this thread is hijacked!

It's an interesting comparison (I've got no qualms with EA - they've flown me out to Vancouver from Ottawa to playtest NHL games on two occasions, all expenses paid including two nights each time at a $280-a-night hotel) - but in the broader sense, the boardgame equivalent of EA is Hasbro. The juggernaut that accounts for the greatest number of sales, with so much money it can solve a lot of its competition or rights problems with its wallet (EA's purchase of Westwood and Maxis reminds of Hasbro's purchase of Wizards of the Coast and Avalon Hill)

If I had to draw a videogame-world parallel for Days of Wonder, it might be... Working Designs? While they existed, they were a benchmark of delivering only the best possible product to its audience (including hardcover books and cloth maps with games, a level of attention to detail that the big boys never gave).

EA must have pissed off so many people on this forum.
