Hi,

I will be in Ft. Worth during the weekend of 9-10 December. I was wondering whether there are any boardgaming activities going on? My main interest is Euro Games (Puerto Rico, Thurn&Taxis, etc.). Any ideas are welcome, also if you know of any shops.

Regards,
Edwin - The Netherlands

The best way to find a game day in Dallas is to join the mailing list at Dallas Gamers: www.dallasgames.com If you post the same message there, you may find a willing group of people to game with.

Dallas is pretty far from Fort Worth, sorta, and there are activities going on in Fort Worth and sometimes Arlington & other mid cities areas. There's usually gaming on Sunday afternoons at Borders at I-20 and Hulen. Check out http://fortworthgamers.inluminous.net/mambo/ The main local game stores are Lone Start Comics and Games, big one in central Arlington.

Hmmmm, I missed the "Ft. Worth" part. Alan's suggestion may be a better option, although it's still worth posting a message to the Dallas group. I know there is some cross-gaming that goes on, and I think some of the Fort Worth gamers read the mailing list.

Thanks for your replies! I mailed Michael Ward from the Fort Worth Gamers and I found out that Borders is quite close to my hotel (La Quinta on Bryant Irvin Road). Any other suggestions are still welcome.

Cheers,
Edwin

Edwin,

May I suggest my three favorite restaurants in Fort Worth, Uncle Julio's (Tex Mex - get the Carne Asada), Railhead (Texas Barbecue), and Edelweiss (German).

The best game store in the area actually is Game Chest, which last I checked was in Valley View Mall in North Dallas, but that's a long drive from south west Fort Worth.

Have a good weekend.

Some Yahoo groups with gaming news around Fort Worth are

We'd love to have you, Drew! In Dallas specifically, there's gaming every Tuesday at Borders, and every other Thursday at Half-Price Books. Recently, there's also been weekly gaming on Saturdays at a local game & comic shop. Generally, if you're in Dallas for more than a few days, chances are you can catch one of our game nights. Now if I could only show up more often, myself!

Any groups meet anywhere closer to the Fort Worth side of DFW? It's a long haul to make it over to Dallas especially with traffic and such.

Feedback after returning to Holland again: I had three great sessions with the Fort Worth Gamers", who play in Border's on Hulen Street. Shows the power of this website, and the good spirit of the boardgaming community!

Happy Holidays from Holland,
Edwin
