Only issue for 1st timers is that they will rarely win (or typically stand a chance). Card knowledge is key. I think the next game I teach this too that ill run through the most common combos and approaches for the civ they are playing.
Barbarians are my defacto newbie civ because it's the the most versatile. People fail to realize you need to find ways to draw your deck out...which is definitely important for the build heavy Romans. I would let a newbie play the Egyptians but stress to never use the gold for a wild Unless it gets you more gold. Of course, never give a newbie the japs.
General rules of thumb:
- Draw freaking cards! You won't get your engine going if you pick up the cards. 1st 3 rds is to set you up.
- VP focus in rd4 and 5. Each faction has an opportunity to score a ton of pts VERY quickly if set up properly.
- If you haven't scored over 100pts, you need to re evaluate your play.
Thnx heaps! I havent won yet so playing someone new might help me! haha
Thnx for the pointers! I myself havent really figured the game out yet strategy wise.
