I've read the rules twice. Haven't played yet.

My question is: what is the purpose of Magic Dust? It doesn't seem to factor into the auctions or did I miss something?

Is magic dust a valueless commodity with the sole-purpose of using up your hand limit?

Magic Dust is the same currency as the gem cards, it's all just different denominations of "money" in this game.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I just figured that out.

This will teach me to not read the rules without the components near by for reference. I opened the box and looked at the gem cards and realized there are denominations on the back side.

Overall, I think the rules are pretty poorly written and organized. I would like to have seen an example of game play.

Yes the rules are horribly written. Stumble through the first few minutes of real play and you'll be fine.
