Does anyone know how a 4 player game is played out?
Is it a MTG two-headed giant style 4 player setup?

I am wondering the same thing. I don't play MTG but it seems to be just free-for-all.

With sealed, draft, and preconstucted decks, up to four players can play out of a single copy of the game.

I'd have to imagine this means 2 pairs of people will be able to play in those formats rather than a 4 player free for all. This isn't Star Realm. Disclaimer: haven't seen a rulebook yet, so maybe there is a 4 player game, but I doubt it.

I would imagine you can play whatever rules you want to. 2 headed hydra, team death match, and free-for-all should all be possible. You can even have everyone draft a deck and then play a 3-round head to head round robin tournament.

I find that very unlikely. They'd have said so if that were the case. When a game maker says a game is playable up to 4 players they always mean in the same game. Most likely, there will be multiple options, as suggested above.

Judging by this thread it's the same options as Star Realms, which (as I said there) is quite disappointing as I was hoping that multiplayer options would be properly baked in, rather than just an add-on.

Ummmm.... what?

This is a decendent of tne CCG era. Almkst all of them have similar formats.

The Star Realms variants are all valid options. It is a game based on attacking. So all variants are based on.... attacking. You just change the rules for who, when, and effect.
