I already own Imperial Settlers, 7 Wonders, Elysium, Abyss, Seasons and various other Area control games like Hyperborea, Is dues a stand out amongst these?

I like it more than those, so I'd say yes.

My friend owns it and some of those other games.

Just try it somewhere first. You'll probably either really appreciate it's blend of mechanics or find some flaw to be very annoyed by.

Deus is better than Abyss, and Seasons.

As good as Hyperborea, and Elysium.

Not as good as 7 Wonders, and Imperial Settlers.

I own or used to own (Seasons) all of theses titles, and I think Deus works well in the overall collection, but I'm not sure it's a game that will stay forever in my collection, unlike 7 Wonders and Imperial Settlers.

No one owns game near me so I usually just buy them after doing my research.

I really love Imperial Settlers but we like to bounce from game to game as to not get tired of them. Thanks for the insight.

The order in which I like the games mentioned
7 wonders
Seasons
Deus
Abyss
Hyperborea
Elysium (I feel this will get old after a bunch more plays)
Imperial Settlers

The order in which I play teh most frequently

Deus
Seasons
7 wonders
Abyss
Elysium
Hyperborea
Imperial Settlers

I just really hate Imperial Settlers...

I think Deus stands on its own and it a very great game. You can try playing online Boiteajeux.net but it is way better than I thought it would be.

It is the same weight as Seasons I feel and lasts about the same amount of time or less.

Edit added Hyperborea

For Deus, you can try it at www.boiteajeux.net and see what you think. The experience is nothing like playing in person, and the asynchronous nature of the site turns some people off, but sometimes you can find someone who is willing to play live. I'd be happy to do it sometime if you want to set up a time.
