I love IKEA. I wish they'd keep stuff in the product range longer. I want a new plastic clothes shelf cupboard thing on wheels and they don't do it any more. And I want a good filing cabinet.

So Gwen is kindly taking me out to IKEA on Sunday. Yay!

I really really like all their shelving options. Especially the little shelves. And the odd little boxes to put crap in.

I may plump for a table top and legs and get rid of this crappy desk and chair that makes my buttocks ache so. GTD. Getting things done. I may finally commit to GTD and get my In sorted. But I need a fast filing place. 30 seconds.

So I'm looking at the IKEA website. And joyous news! They're finally doing online sales. Next year. Sometime. But yes, I can shop at IKEA without setting foot in the place. Happy days.

What is the point of not going to IKEA? What is more fun than watching people put their small children in a room full of molded plastic spheres in the hopes that they will never see them again?

Sure enough, what are Dave and Gwen getting while at IKEA with Jon?

shelves to hold their game collection; a lamp for the game table; scissors for crib sheets dave prints out; et cetera; ...you get the point. They should advertise that website on BGG!

Going to IKEA with Jon; been there done that.

It's the third circle of hell as far I can tell, just an endless circle of lost souls wandering around and around. soblue

Luckily the Ikea has a big borders next door with a nice coffee shop, where I can retreat to with a good book whilst my good wife and Jon spend hours debating the merits of the Hugloom over a Mungenvurt or whatever.

Oh, and Jon, make sure you fix the shelves up properly this time, we don't want another near tragedy like last time.

NEAR tragedy? It was a REAL disater. It should have been on CNN. Mudlsides, volcanoes, Jon's shelves of games fell off the wall. But I learnt from my mistakes and I'm much better at screwing now.

Got more shelves and boxes, but I missed out on a couple of items, out of stock. Hmmmm, Ikea has got some great stuff for 9 month old children. Really. When would Kari like to take me back?

You know, I think I have found a new career. Ikea escorts. Drew, I'd be happy to take your wife. To Ikea. The deal is, you drive me there, you drive me and my stuff back to my home. You can throw in lunch in the cafeteria.

You only wrote that to get a reaction, Jon, didn't you.

Well, nope. No reaction here. Move along.

Oooops. My mistake. Usually, if a I see a double entendre, I whip it out immediately.

I wasn't using the right size screws to hold up the weight of the shelves. I've learnt to screw in longer and deeper.

Oooops.

I mean, I'm using bigger screws now.

Which brings the following story to my mind.

You'll recall Fred Trueman's response to the criticism that he had a big arse?
Spoiler (click to reveal)
"Well, you need a big hammer to knock in a big nail".

I'm here all week.
