Subject: extended example question rss

at the end of the extended example the situation analysis talks about the US having an advantage in central and south america while the fidel card is buried. "The US might grab an early lead in Central America while the soviets wait to find an entry point."

This confuses me slightly since it seems to say that the soviets can't gain influence in this part of the map without an event like Fidel...but couldn't the Soviet player also just attempt to instigate a coup in Panama - a US starting location(whos stability is pretty low)- with a good shot at taking it over and branching out from there?

Depending on DEFCON, yes. but as long as the US only occupies Battleground countries and DEFCON is at 2 the Soviets have no way in.
