[The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was not convincing people he didn't exist, but convincing them that he was God.

Ok community.. lets see who can help me with this...

im currently constructing a game.. a near future game with similarities to twilight struggle.. its a card driven game for 3-4 players that should play in 45-75 mins.

there are 4 major groups in the game.. remembering that this is near future so these are spinoffs from what we currently have globally..

NATO - norther americas, europe etc.
BLOCK - Russia, china, india and surrounding coutries essentially
OPEC - south americas, africa, middle east.

in addition to these there are some green countries scattered about who are not meant to be affiliated with each other any more than having a common goal, and all like to call themselves the same thing.. they are mostly anarchist types that want to turn the planet into micronations etc.. they thrive on chaos and any country that falls into chaos has a very good chance of turning green.

when i started designing the game we had a guy in our gaming club that had pretty much the same mindset.. his surname is SHANNON.. everyone agreed that the 4th 'faction' should be a play on that..

so what i am after is a fit for the acronym SHANNON or SHANON that fits the factions theme..

any ideas?

How about:

Scattered Homogeneous Anarchists of (Neo) NON-cooperation

Take out the Neo bit and maybe replace it with New, or Networked (although networked anarchy doesn't sound very anarchistic). Or just leave it out entirely.

EDIT:

Using the above Scattered Homogeneous Anarchists of Non Organised Nations..

cheers

Simon

Would anarchist countries really choose to use a backronym?

Maybe they're just called Shannon for some other reason.

given how sparse they are ive always imagined its a name given to them by other factions..

to put in in perspective, the planet is cut into 24 'countries' (risk style). NATO, BLOCK and OPEC have 7 each. SHANON has 3

Scattered Humanity Alliance of Non Organized Nations?

how do you feel about changing to SHON, SANON or something that's still a reference but possibly more manageable? not sure if it helps but though I'd ask.

FYI, "BLOCK" is normally spelled "BLOC" as in the "Soviet Bloc Nations"

Quote:
bloc (plural blocs)

a group of voters or politicians who share common goals
a group of countries acting together for political or economic goals, an alliance: e.g., the eastern bloc, the western bloc, a trading bloc
in specific contexts 'the bloc' may refer to:
the countries in the Eurozone

The ECB is considering three main options ... but two of them could hurt confidence in the bloc's most indebted states, ... (Reuters)

the countries in the European Union

Climate change a security risk for EU, say bloc's foreign policy chiefs (EUobserver)
