I'm considering ordering the game, but am wondering how stats for part time players are handled. For instance Jake Smolinski batted .349 in only 86 AB last year. Clearly, a fluke as this year he is batting .133 in 60 AB...

A common way of handling this is to play with usage, usually adjusted for season schedule length. For instance in an 82-game season each player would be allowed to use exactly half of his usage. Another way is to have an eligibility cutoff, say maybe 200 or 300 PA/IP.

As Tommy said, you must have some limit on the IP or PA for players who were not regulars. The game gives you this information so you can adjust accordingly. Not every player on a roster gets a card, necessarily so you often don't have to worry about a player who did not play much. If you play the advanced game performance against RH and LH will also tend to be correcting. Many part time players have very noticeable platoon advantages and will not perform as well if they are used as regulars.
