Oooh, I just noticed the competition logo...nice

Hopefully I can get the inspiration to finish off my rule changes...adding an extra stat has proved to be harder than I expected.

I'm going to try to complete another submission, I like the challenge of this. Don't officially enter this in the contest yet. Give me about a week to work through the details. But, if you want to take a peek:

I'm also late to the party and I had a question. I've designed a game for the 18 card microgame and I was wondering if I could also submit it here (I would have to make different files to make the cards smaller).

Cool, thanks. I've updated my WIP Thread to include files for the Mint Tin Contest as well and some pictures of the Mint Tin version of the game.

Here is a link to my WIP Thread.

Great! I've added your entry to the list Gary.

I've also been working on a design with a friend lately. I'm not sure if we'll be able to fit all of the components into a tin but we wanted to share our progress with you. Here it is - Giant Space Bugs!

[WIP] Allied Bomber Run - 2015 Mint Tin Design Contest Entry...Contest Ready

Real simple game. Allied bombers and escort fighters against Axis interceptor fighters and/or ground anti-aircraft guns.

Small board, simple rules, dice chucking.

Thanks for joining us Felix and that looks like another great little entry Scott!

As we get closer to the deadline, I'd like to clean up the entry list a bit. If anyone would like to withdraw an entry or make any changes, please let me know. I know I might have to withdraw our design as it might not fit into the tin. It has still been a good learning experience and design exercise though.

My first submission "Iron Infantry" is now "contest ready" - no more tweaks from me. Thanks all for the feedback.

My goal is to finalize rules for "Allied Bomber Run" this week, so it is ready before the deadline.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear that Charles. Thanks for letting me know and I will make sure to update the entry list before the voting period.

There's 1 week left to get any last minute entries in or to make any changes. Good luck everybody!

Still need to finalize and post the rules for "Allied Bomber Run", but both games are essentially finished and ready for the contest.

I ended up mounting both games' pieces to the 1" plastic "math squares" I bought just to give them more mass, but both games are perfectly playable as print&play on card stock.

This contest has been a great learning experience and motivation for me.
Thanks!

As I get to polishing Tiny Tin Titan this week, I'm going to do what I try to do in contests in the last week and extend an invitation:

If you feel like you haven't gotten much feedback, and have a rulebook available in your game thread, send me a GeekMail and I'll try to get over there and give the rule book a thorough read and throw some constructive criticism your way. I should be able to do a few of these (maybe 4 or 5 over the week), and if I get too many I'm going to prioritize those with the least discussion in their WIP thread.

Homestretch folks, lets do this thing!

I'm a bit late to the party, but I found this contest just tonight. I bought an Altoids tin, and well, we'll see what happens. Played around with the space of the tin and I have some ideas for where I want to go, but I'll have to flesh that out in the time to come.

Just finally downloaded the entries* and I've got to say I'm embarrassed by how good many of them look... An artist friend of mine was particularly kind when she called my (alleged) art style as 'naive' rather than some more scatalogical description.
She did offer to do me some new art, but tbh I've said not yet - no point having great art if my game's poo. But looking at some of the entries maybe I should have just set her to work.

Oh well - back to my rule sheet.

* as a superb form of procrastination to get my files uploaded...

Do we need to do anything to our entries to signify that they are ready for final voting?

Great question! Please label the rules & component files as contest ready. Those files shouldn't be modified after the entry deadline. You are welcome to make future changes but people should know which files to open for voting purposes. Feel free to modify the WIP thread name as well to reflect this.

If you have a chance, please make sure the contest geeklist items are up to date as well.

Pictures of the games also help so there will be reasonable proof that the designs can fit into a tin.

After the submission deadline, I will create an online voting form. People will have 1 month to vote on the entries. 3 points will be awarded to 1st place votes, 2 points to 2nd, and 1 point to 3rd.

I encourage everyone to test out as many of the designs as you can, to read the rules and WIP threads, and to view the components files prior to voting. Please continue to offer feedback and suggestions during and after voting.

A big thank you to everyone who has participated and especially those who have helped other designers!

Knowing that I can dabble until the end of the Earth (when R'lyeh rises once more - or 12th February next year as I call it) I thought it about time I bite the bullet and make something available for public consumption/criticism...

So here it is:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0kxya1ck7xhp4fq/Cthultoids%20v0.2....

It's a zip archive of PDFs and PNGs with instructions on assembly.

I've never really shared anything on dropbox before - but it looks like I can only share individual files unless I upgrade my account... Please shout up if you know that's not the case and I'm just being thick and missing something!

If you distrust zip files, the individual files are all on dropbox, but I'm trying to avoid giving you 9 individual files to download!

Thank you very much to anyone who downloads it, prints it and maybe even tries it out... Hope you enjoy it.

Any and all comments/questions/critiques welcome.

@Dave:

Cthultoids looks pretty great so far! I'd love to give you some more detailed comments later, but for now I have to work on getting my game together since I found this contest about 24 hours ago I did look over the instructions though, and it seems like a pretty fun game.

@all:

My game design has been going pretty well since yesterday. My game is titled "Bribes and Bounties," and is a bag building game where you are a mobster who is building up their crew and trying to gain political influence. I got in the first playtest with a friend tonight and it went pretty well. Things worked surprisingly smoothly for a first run-through. I'm going to make some tweaks, get some visual design, and then make it available for feedback.

Perhaps none of that means much, but I'm incredibly excited about the game and can't wait to share it with you guys soon!

Done for Minimum Burn. (I couldn't figure out how to modify the name of an existing thread.)
