I note that this image shows some cross roads on some of the tiles (eg bottom left).



The version I have been playing has no cross roads as shown below. When were they changed? Was it to make it so that there were more dead ends (eg. left column second from top)?

Could it be fan made changes? Those crossings make for some terribly complex road systems.

I would like to have this crossroads edition too. It would make it a really nice filler/introductory game for adults.

I'm guessing the picture is from the publisher of a preproduction version. The crossing probably was a tile where all four roads stopped, then got redrawn for production to be less confusing.

Found another image with junctions in it. Seems like early editions came with the cross roads. Thinking that the original rules probably said that a junction was considered the same as a dead end as otherwise you might never get to close off the network!
