You'd think both of these characters would be no brainers to have in a fantasy board game like they were in the previous editions, yet they are missing. Why do you think they are?

Don't tell anyone, but Ranger/Barbarian are the reason the 3rd edition game changes were abandoned, and why 4th reverted a lot of things to the way they were in 2nd edition.

It's called "a joke".
To continue with said joke:

Yeah, they were in 2nd edition expansions, but not the main game.
You'll notice 2nd edition isn't around anymore either.

They're scared that if they put them back in, it'll ruin the game again, and they'll have to go to 5th edition.

Well maybe there is no Ranger or Barbarian by name, but you have already several characters who might fill the role. Scout and Dragonslayer come to mind, for instance.

Isn't the Higlander a barbarian of sorts?
Amazon would be the female barbarian, also.

Ranger... the Elf would do it, but other types would be welcome.

Well, I'm ALWAYS one for more characters but, unfortunately, with the end-of-world related Harbinger looming I'm guessing Tal4 might be reaching the end of its life and thus we won't see such characters.

I'm not sure what else they could do regarding xpacs that wouldn't seem redundant or clunky.

Doesn't Relic (set in WH4OK world) replace Timescape?

We're talking about a fantasy game here, not sci/fi.

They aren't "robots", they're "golems".
They aren't "laser guns", they're "wands with triggers".
That's not "Indiana Jones", it's...ok, it is Indiana Jones...

Fantasy and Sci-fi have been mixed before, it is not new.

One of the Shannara books, its been awhile since I read it, so forgive any errors here, the elf character ran into a robot from the distant past.

Or how about A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court?

As said, I think that the Timescape expansion morphed into Relic, the Sci-Fi WH40K world equivalent of Talisman.

Using Talisman Second Edition, my group would draw two character cards and play them as a combo. One of my friends, Scott, drew the Zulu Warrior and The Space Marine, winning the game with what we affectionately called the Zulu Warrior of Chaos. Best game of Talisman, ever.

A Relic crossover would be awesome!
