Players choose partners and sit directly across the table from them.
One team will use the Footprint deck, and the other the Fossil deck.
Shuffle the decks separately and deal each deck out between the two partners. Each player now has their own deck in front of them. (One player will have 1 more card than the other player on their team.)
Each player draws 5 cards into their hand.
The player with the Footprint deck that has less cards is the starting player.
How to play:
The game plays following all of the rules for the 2 player game with the following changes:
Note: Players may not discuss the specifics of the cards in their hands with their teammate.
During this phase, the player who WON the previous round (or the first player if it’s the first turn), places one or more cards face down in front of them. If the player plays more than one card (known as a PACK), the cards in the Pack MUST be compatible.
Next, the player to their left (from the other team), places one or more cards face down in front of them. If the player plays more than one card (known as a PACK), the cards in the Pack MUST be compatible.
After both players have played their card, or pack of cards, face down it’s time to FIGHT! Each player simultaneously reveals the cards that they played.
Tag In: Then, both teammates evaluate their cards in hand and decide if they will play 1 additional, compatible card to add to the cards their teammate played.
On the count of 3 (1! 2! 3!), the teammates may reveal a card from their hand to add to their teammate’s cards.
After cards are revealed, apply any EFFECTS the card(s) have, including any FEROCITY bonuses. Each player then adds up the total amount of FEROCITY in their card or pack. The player with the HIGHEST TOTAL FEROCITY wins!
After a winner has been determined, the winner takes ALL the card(s) the losing team played this round and places them FACE UP in a score pile near their own draw deck
All the cards the WINNING player played that round are placed FACE UP in a discard pile next to their own draw deck.
NOTE that “Eggs” are an exception to this, as any Eggs in a winning player’s pack are placed in the winning player’s score pile, rather than their discard pile.
Once the winning player has placed cards in their score pile, both players of the LOSING team then draw as many cards as is necessary from their draw deck to get back up to 5 cards. A player may never have more than 5 cards in their hand. This means that the ONLY WAY for a player to draw back up to 5 cards is to LOSE a round.
-End of the Game-
Players will continue playing rounds as above until one player has no more cards to play from their hand and has no more cards in their draw deck. At this point the game ends immediately.
Both teams add up the point values of all the cards in their score piles. The team with the most points wins!
In the event of a tie, the team with the most cards in their score pile wins.
