Rucksack doesn't have a board and is in a smaller box.

If it was below $20, I'd consider, but only $5 cheaper than MM at this price.

Cheapest I've ever seen it. Great price.

MM never has it in stock at this price, at least the occasional times I check.

SO the only difference is no game board?

Ender did a comprehensive comparison between the two versions.

The game is really, really good. We play it often and always enjoy the emergent stories and gentle-ribbing style of PvP it encourages. And the modular expansions are a really nice touch that allow you to influence the story, gameplay, and goals. It's gorgeous, to boot.

In addition to the tiles instead of a board, it also removed some duplicate cards (211 vs. 240). It seems like a good deal at this price. I personally like the game. It has a nice sense of whimsy.

I can't speak to their in stock price, but right now, it is $27.99 OOS.

I went ahead and got this, but mainly becuase I wanted to get a copy of Fleet Captains while the getting was good. It's been OOS at MM (and other places) forever, CSI only has a few left. Now I have to figure out how I am going to get the Romulan expansion without paying my left nut.

Having seen both versions, the board is useful to organize things but I don't know that it's worth 20-30 dollars difference in price. I couldn't justify the price for the full version, but had a much easier time paying for the Rucksack edition.
