I just picked up RftG this afternoon, watched a video, played half a dozen games on Keldon, and then a few live games with my wife. So I'm new and may be misunderstanding something. But I just played another Keldon game now, and I don't understand why I can't develop Mining Robots here:

I'm Blue, on the bottom. The opponent played Develop against my Settle. Why does the AI allow me to develop Space Marines but not Mining Robots?

Thanks for any guidance you all can provide.

Good question, looks like you should be able to. I've certainly developed it before.

Probably just a loose bit in this match - I would expect you won't see this again.

Keldon really is good, I've noticed very few issues.

You cannot have more than 1 of each development, and you already have a copy of Mining Robots

You've already developed it. You can't have duplicate developments in your tableau.

You already have Mining Robots in your Tableau and you can't have the same card twice.

Thanks all. I didn't realize you couldn't duplicate cards.

I didn't realize there were duplicate cards. No really, I thought one of the draws of the game was that each card was unique...

Generally planets and 6 cost developments are unique; cheaper developments usually have multiple copies (I think there are two of each in the base set, but some may increase to three or more with expansions).

AFAIK: All non-6-cost developments have two copies in the base game. Certain key developments (maybe only Contact Specialist) get extra copies in the expansions in order to make sure they appear regularly even with the increased deck size.

Yes, the base game has 2 copies of every development costing 1-5. Each expansion includes 2 copies of the new developments costing 1-5. The Gathering Storm includes a 3rd Contact Specialist (to keep pay-for-military viable) and Rebel vs Imperium includes a 3rd Research Labs (as one of the few cards that allows you to keep an extra card on explore and one of the cards which scores for Galactic Renaissance).

All worlds and 6-cost developments are unique, though there are some worlds where the only difference is the name (e.g. 2/2 Uplifts, Comet Zone/Mining World). I assume Imperium Planet Buster from BoW is unique too, not sure about as is Pan-Galactic Research from RvI.

Imperium Planet Buster is unique, as is Pan-Galactic Research. The former because it's a unique space weapon, the latter because it's a 6-cost dev in all senses except the variable scoring part (afaik it's because it'd be too good in all phases otherwise).

Note that, similar to Gambling World, there is a replacement Galacic Federation that comes with Brink of War that scores for developments of less than six cost (instead of developments that are not six cost). This is to keep from getting an extra two points off of the already huge 9 that the Imperium Planet Buster has. Unlike the various Gambling Worlds, the replacement Galactic Federation is perfectly ok to leave in your deck if you're playing a no-expansions game.

Erm, both score 2 per 6-cost development and 1 per other development. The difference is that the icon for other development is <6 in the original Galactic Federation and just a diamond in the BoW Galactic Federation. Galactic Federation scores 1 for Imperium Planet Buster. (See here for discussion)

I've started playing BoW with Keldon and I can't work out the following.

Why is Galactic Saloon greyed out as a payment option for development of Improved Logistics? I believe I should be able to use it as payment.

I took the game back a few steps and repeated the Develop phase. Same question, different cards: Why is Improved Logistics greyed out as payment for Galactic Renaissance?

I'm not aware of any restrictions on which cards can be used for payment, as long as you meet settle/develop cost or conditions (e.g. contact specialist).
Thanks in advance.

There are no restrictions on what cards you can use as payment so this sounds like a bug to me.

Seems to resolve once GUI Options/Auto Select Forced Choices is deselected.

Not certain but only found this in tableaux with Galactic Scavengers

Great! Thanks Rosehip, I found this Galactic Scavengers bug a while back and it's been very annoying... thank you for discovering a way around it.

Glad to help, I didn't think there would be any bugs left to iron out after so long.

It's a pity since the Auto Select option saves a lot of clicking, but the game works fine without it.

The fu wha???!!!!!! surprisesurprisesurprisesurprise

I've basically given up on playing Galactic Scavangers on Keldan because of this bug. I either choose the other startworld or restart another game.

Must remember work around...

Thank you so much for sharing your fix!

Back to the original question: I think the last update that included Alien Artifacts did something that caused the bug your seeing when Galactic Scavangers is in play. It's been reported on the Keldan AI bug report thread (multiple times), but there hasn't been an update posted since (that I know of anyway) to fix it.

Keldon AI bug list link, please?

I'm gobsmacked that such a popular and respected game doesn't have an ios release. Then Keldon might have a reason to maintain it.

I'm not surprised if Keldon has decided to devote minimum effort into supporting this, given the debacles over the years.

Ok, so not exactly a bug list. Just a general discussion about the AI that turned into a bug reporting thread, but this was what I was referring too.

This bug was unfortunately introduced in the 0.9.4 version, but I have included a fix in the very recently released Upgrade for Keldon's AI, version 0.9.5.
