Louis C.K. is to comedy what Cards Against Humanity is to boardgaming. A sad excuse to be shitty and pretend like you're not actually a bad person even though you spent the last half hour being disgusting and offensive.

I find Louis CK insightful and biting intellectual social satire.

I find Cards Against Humanity useless.

Wow, I don't see it. I find his comedy to be highly intelligent, challenging- yes, but cerebral nonetheless.

He and Lewis Black are tops in my book.

You must be a lot of fun at parties. /s

Louis is one of the most brilliant minds in comedy, it's a shame you don't understand. You're really missing out.

CAH is fun too, though it is in no conceivable way even remotely related to Louis style of humor.

The more I think of it, the more I would put Louis CK shoulder to shoulder with Richard Pryor and George Carlin as necessary caustic jesters that mock and mirror the momentary society at large.

Sure, the stuff can be obscure, dense, and often high brow behind profanity, but that seems the proper mode of the socio political commentator.

Every few years, we NEED this type of comedian. He is not just good (actually excellent) but a required component of modern society.

Louis CK is more of a Friedmann Friese (to make a boardgame designer analogy) -- playful, intelligent, and subversive.

Dick and fart jokes told at an open mic and dick and fart jokes told by Louis CK are lightyears apart.

Damn, you beat me to it.

Or maybe CAH is like Carlos Mencia. Take a good look at what's successful, steal it, make it obnoxious, profit.

This feels like a poorly veiled RSP thread to me.

On the non-RSP element, sometimes you just want to drink beer and make dick and fart jokes. Let all the cares of the world subside. True escapism. CAH is good for that. If they ripped off someone elses idea, remember that marketing is just as important as creativity to making a product successful.

Not everything by him is funny but he's had some very brilliant moments of comic existential satire. Some of the best ever.

From what I've seen Louis is upfront about being a shitty person in many respects. No pretending there.

Your opinions.

They are definitely not mine on either count, but you have a right to them (Louie absolutely is the successor to Carlin for me). Neither of us can pretend that we can state these opinions as facts, though. Hey, I actually find a two sentence dismissal of Louie with pejorative language in a public forum a little off-putting, but I'll get over it.

I would allow that both are highly, highly dependent on context. For whatever reason, the context lacks merit to you, so you are free to move on to what you do like.
