Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for games that had "personal boards". For example, my wife's favorite games are:

- Bora bora
- Castles of Burgundy
- Viticulture

She loves the idea of playing on a main board, but also have your own little personal board that you get to work on as well. Besides those three, do you guys know of any others? Preferably the same weight, plays well with two (we occasionally play with more though), and is about 60-90 minutes max. Two hours is doable, but would probably be pushing it since we usually have to play it at night and she goes to bed early.

Thanks

A good bit heavier than Castles, but also what immediately came to mind. The 'board' in Agricola is not really interactive albeit, more of a inventory than anything. I guess Castles is similar in that respect though.

Keyflower has your own town, which is very similar to a board, and an integral part of the game as workers that activate tiles in your town become yours at the end of the round (and anyone can place pieces in another person's town. This is the game I can think of where your 'personal' board remains a part of the game in a very interesting way.

It has some wonderful non-conflict interaction as you build your own board. Plays well with two and pretty quickly.

Trajan has it's own board and a pretty cool use of the mancala mechanic.

Hawaii fast play, light to medium weight, spouse friendly game. Ceck out rahdo runthrough.
Keyflower there is no actual board but everybody gets to build their own town, upgrade building, deliver resources from building to building etc. One of the best euro I have played.

Suburbia or Castles of Mad King Ludwig could do the trick.

They don't have a central board but the do have a central market place where you buy tiles to build on to your city (Suburbia) or Castle (in Mad King Ludwig).

Both 90 minutes or fewer. They're all about building your own personalized worlds that tell their own quirky little stories through the course of the game.

I really like Cacao, but it doesn't fit this category.
All your personal board does is track your 'water points' and make sure you don't accidentally have too many cacoa or sun tile pieces in your stash. You're not managing/building anything of your own.

+1 Hawaii (my favourite in this category)
+1 Puerto Rico
+1 Agricola

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I guess I should have put a disclaimer or a note at the top about what games haven't worked for us, and what games we have but haven't gotten a chance to pay yet.

Games that didn't work:
- Agricola: My wife wasn't a fan of this, to be fair though at the time it was much more difficult than any game we had played previously (at the time) so she was a little overwhelmed. So it's possible if we revisited it, she may enjoy it.
- Steam Park: She watched me play it once, but wasn't too excited by it.
- Village: We've only played this once, but it didn't go over too well. Granted we were sleepy and the game was going a really long time since no one had played before.
- Castles of Mad King Ludwig: We've played this a few times, and while I enjoy it, she wasn't a big fan.

Games that we need to play a few more times:
- Bruxelles 1893: Played this twice so far...doesn't seem to hate it, but also doesn't seem to love it so far. Need to play a few more times to get a good feel.
- Aquasphere: Played this twice so far, she seems to like it but we need to play a few more times.

Games we have access to, but haven't played yet (together):
- Keyflower
- Puerto Rico
- Patchwork (being shipped as we speak)
- Hawaii

Also as a note, we are okay with some conflict but we usually prefer to play kind of like Rahdo and Jen where we are pretty nice to one another.

Keep the suggestions coming! You guys are giving me lots of great games to look into.
