So, my girlfriend started having some interest in gaming. She always play monopoly with me and started wanting to play something more 'geekworld'.
thing is, she doesn't have interest in anything u may consider a 'boy' thing. Super heroes/war/zombies out.

So it got a little out of my knowlegde.
i need a game nice looking so it gets her attention (no need to be all girly, i mean something like seasons).
Mostly card based or with a simple board.
and the worst part, having a simple normal theme, as farming (she loves it).

After a really quick search i saw agricola, but it never appealed to me, and the game board didn't match her style, she wanted somethibg more simple.

Something around imperial settlers seens quite nice, but i'm as aways open to more. But the art style and setup matches her style.

Thnx for any help! Sorry for any grammar error as i'm doing this in secret on the phone so i can surprise her

I am proud to have opposed those who describe all who oppose them as "Tender Flowers" and "Special Snowflakes".

Takenoko looked interesting but from a quick glance it didn't hit the mark (tomorrow i'll look for full reviews though), about the other agricola, the art just didn't cut it too, not sure why, even i don't want it
patchwork would drive her mad
I'll look for imperial settlers expansions and see if there is something gold

+Agricola: All Creatures Big & Small

I would also suggest Splendor, and if you'd like to try a co-op, Pandemic.

EDIT: just saw your reply laugh Check out the other 2, though.

If Agricola doesn't work, maybe try At the Gates of Loyang instead.

Finca is an excellent "farming" game, though it's currently OOP and may be a bit expensive to obtain a copy.

Lewis & Clark has very attractive art, though I don't know if she'd find the board too complex.

Morels is an excellent 2-player card game with pretty art. Collecting mushrooms isn't quite farming, but it's related.

Scoville is another game with a farming theme, and the board is mainly just a grid.

My wife loves Jaipur

She also gets real excited when the camel with the panda comes out onto the table too... I have to be a brave man to take that camel.

+1 to this suggestion.

Also you could try a Carcassonne game. That is a good gateway game.

Surprised Takenoko didn't do it. That was going to be my #1 suggestion by a fair margin. And you said Patchwork would drive her mad. Huh.

Alright, I game with my less-gamer-y gf. I should be able to help here...

*thinkthinkthink*

Ok, yeah, this is tough, bc my gf will be happy with almost anything we bring to the table.

So I'll go ahead and +1 Jaipur to be safe. Maybe Tokaido, though it's by the same designer as Takenoko (I prefer Tokaido, though Takenoko has a higher BGG rating). Maybe if she's intimidated by the "boy" hobby, coops could be the way to go. Lots of great options there. Forbidden Island was the gateway coop I first played with my gf, and it went really well. It was one of the earliest games she really took to.

Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries was one of my favorites when we first got started in gaming, especially if she has only been playing Monopoly...it's simple to play and visually lovely. (Purple!!)

A lot of great suggestions already, but some not mentioned yet...

Sushi Go!
Lanterns: The Harvest Festival
Alhambra
Saint Petersburg (this one may even feel very vaguely Monopoly like, buying cards of differing values, some of which provide income at certain intervals)

It may not be what your looking for but you should check into Carcassone and Lost Cities. My wife and I really enjoy these 2. We have also been looking into Agricola all creatures big and small.

Thnx a lot!!!! I was kinda going crazy without findind good ones. I'll take a look into all of this. There are maany that would really attract her but sometimes may just be too complex for her first real game.
sushi go was a really good option, but sje hates sushi (other thing that i'm trying to get her into lol). Anyway, i'll look into all of these now and later i'll post a better reply.

Thnx for your help and time

+1 Splendor, Jaipur, Machi Koro, Carcassonne, Alhambra, Pandemic

My GF loves all these games but is def partial to Alhambra and Splendor the most.

She is also loving 7 Wonders right now but we play with three people and I haven't played it two player yet.

Arboretum and Dominion are also big hits with us.

I wish she enjoyed dominion as most of the games i design are deck builders

I think i'll go with machi koro!

Broom service, jaipur, splendor, lanterns, sushi go were also close ones that i'll keep in mind.
Thnx!

Carcasonne and Catan would probably work.

Dominion is a good card based game and isn't too boyish in my opinion but you'll have to run it by her, I think

Oops - edit, just saw that you said she didn't like it

I can also say Splendor +1...

I also hate sushi but haven't found that effects my enjoyment of Sushi Go!. If anything it has improved my chances of winning since all the other players are thinking about how hungry they are. The pictures in sushi go are very cute and unassuming. If she likes cute art she'll likely have no issue with the game's theme.

Does she like Scrabble? You say you love deck builders, so Paperback might be a great compromise game for you. I dislike deck builders, and I love Paperback.
