So. I like this article:

How to Cut Through the Bullshit and Read the News Like a Defense Analyst

It's not "scholarly". Nor is it exhaustive. And frankly, it's not even spinning to the right or left. It's a brief filler article with some decent advice, most points I have used since before the internet even. Reading will do that to you - make you skeptical of the BS people are selling.

It's also part of why the Tripp Postulate is 80% accurate, minimum. People do seek affirmation and conservative news sources serve both liberals and conservatives, differently for sure, but I have known since the Usenet era that I didn't need to read conservative magazines to find out the contents, the liberals all read them to confirm what they know must be true about conservatives. The reason conservatives don't read liberal media aren't as clear, but I do think there are two primary things happening - 1) they are mostly unreadable and whereas only the most whacko conservotard sites are insane (Infowars as an example) almost every liberal site is scorched earth crazy from the first sentence to the last. 2) They are poorly written and even more horribly edited. I guess when you're screaming there's no time to check grammar.

But it's the comment that follow the typical political article which are always revealing culturally and in those comments is where the humor is found. The follow up comments to this article are no exception, I enjoyed them immensely, it's always pleasant to see evidence that ill-informed, bigoted, Leftard morons aren't only found in RSP.

It's a pretty decent 5 minute read and anyone who is a regular here and not currently absorbed into the Hive Mind neuron system will find themselves nodding in affirmation about the bullshit fed to consumers, voters and people who feel that believing is a decent substitute for thinking.

"Several major news outlets ran with the story, reporting without much skepticism on findings"... so.... the media isn't doing their watchdog thing? Just parroting the company line? How long has this been going on!!!! What liberal media? The only liberal media is fringe stuff that hardly anyone notices except liberals.

"Advocacy research". Is that where paid corporate shills obfuscate science and economic fact?
