Some new ones: Grand Maester Pycelle, Lannisport Moneylender, Steward at the Wall, Ranging Party, etc. (there are a few more).

Mostly we saw a lot of the "resource" characters.

Wow, I did not realize the game has been out for so long. 10-13 years?! Second edition makes sense to me.

That includes the original CCG. The LCG is only 7 years old, which is still pretty long.

As someone who owns most of the 1st edition, I'm looking forward to starting over with some of the rules bulk streamlined.

That's true, but the game rules did not get an overhaul during the LCG switch. In that sense, the design is indeed 13 years old. The basic game mechanics have been around since 2002, and it is precisely that continuity which has aggravated some of the issue that made a reboot seem advisable.
