If you are learning Alpha Strike, I've finished a toolkit for mobile devices that can help you out. It won't teach you the fundamentals of the game, but it theoretically will speed up play...

Features include: To-Hit calculators for most attacks, covering the usual mods. Pilot Skill adjuster. Pilot Ability index for quick lookup. Force Info, helpful for building Lances and Companies.

it's a 1.0 release so it may have a few bugs, but runs completely in your browser and its free.

Nice tool, but I think your math is wrong -- but easy to fix.

In the simplest scenario, a skill 4 'Mech shooting at short range to a 'Mech with a TMM of 1, no cover, heat, or any other modifications, the to-hit calculation is as follows...

* 4[Skill] + 1[TMM] = 5

You app says...

* 4[Skill] + 1[TMM] + 2[because 2d6 starts at 2, not 0] = 7

The correct answer is 5.

I double and triple checked the rules, both Alpha Strike Standard and Quick-Start, and while it is possible I misread it 3 times, I am fairly certain base to-hit starts at 0, not 2, prior to adding the accumulation of modifiers, starting with Skill.
